We arrived 15 minutes early for our 9:30am appointment. The receptionist was calling names sending people to the back who had gotten there after us. At 10:15am I asked her if she called my son's name because 45 minutes had went by and no one even asked me for his insurance info or to even fill out necessary paperwork. The receptionist said she was about to call him but I saw on her clipboard that she had highlighted his name as if she had already called him. I sat down and waited another 15 minutes and went back to ask why he hadn't been called and she gave me this generic piss poor excuse about most kids were having dental work done but dental work and cleaning are on two totally different sides. I finally asked for the paperwork and she said "I can go ahead and give it to you." as if she was doing me a favor. I completed his paperwork and sat down to wait some more and my son didn't get called back until 11:15am and was done at 11:48. That's over 2 hours for a cleaning! I've never waited that long and I truly believe the receptionist skipped him and didn't want to own up to it and then when confronted she tried to make it seem like it was normal to wait that long. The entire time I was there there was 2 big wads of brown paper towels and something white on the floor where kids were coming from "dental work" and no one bothered to pick it up. Staff only there to collect check and not to service people. The receptionist was a dark skinned black lady with long black hair sewn in and had on orange scrubs on 11-22-16.

Imagine coming onto a full dentist office with the left side of your face pounding in pain. I had a toothache on the top and bottom of my mouth. I was dreading being at the dentist all together. With tear in my eyes I approached the receptionist desk and met Angie. She seem to sense my pain. She politely asked me to fill out my paper work and gave me a cup of water and medicine to help me deal with the pain. For a walk in patient I did not have to wait long. I was whisked away to take ex rays of my teeth by a young lady named charisma who was very gentle in the way she handled my soar mouth. Two other nurses (Precious and Shounda)came to the room where I was awaiting on the dentist, just to check on me.They made me feel welcome and assured me I would be okay. I felt right at home. My dentist was very honest, polite and made me excited about getting my smile back on the right track. I can say I did not want to leave the office. I had the greatest dental visit ever and I really admired the way the didn't make me feel bad about my teeth. Cool smiles truly turned my smile upside down. I recommend them to the world!!!!!! I can't wait to go back

I really appreciated the professionalism and friendliness of the staff at Kool Smiles (Ellis Ave. location). The wait time was short the staff is always so nice and friendly. I use to go to a private dentist who was very costly and not nearly as good as the staff at Kool Smiles. The dental hygienist that cleaned my teeth was the best hygienist I had ever had. His name is Grady. Grady, I just want to say thank you so much for the time and patience you took in caring for my teeth. You are truly a blessing. My teeth had never looked and felt so clean. I pray that you will continue offering your patients that quality and caring service. Kool Smiles, I was really impressed! I have already told my family where to go for their dental needs. KUDOS to Grady and Kool Smiles

Grubbs, M Lewis DMD
Dr. Grubbs was amazing. I called to get a new patient appointment for a tooth that was hurting. Dr. Grubbs' receptionist was super friendly and helpful. I called at 8:10 and was seen at 9:30. Dr. Grubbs and his assistant did x-rays, explained the situation and because this upcoming weekend is a holiday weekend, he even gave me instructions on how to get in touch with him if I had anymore problems over the extended weekend! Dr. Grubbs even had his assistant call me this afternoon to see how I was feeling and if I was having any relief with the medications he prescribed. The entire staff is amazing!! I am so glad that I found this particular dentist. I will not go anywhere else!!!

I started with this facility and then moved to North Jackson... The staff are so friendly. Even though I live down the street from the other facility and other offices I choose to drive back to the one off Robinson Rd. Jennifer is the best she always see my kids. If she is on the opposite side that we are on they allow her to come and see them which gives them comfort and the visit goes smoothly! They all are awesome Shirell is very helpful and kid friendly. The doctors are very patient. We saw Dr. Brown.

Amanda is the BEST!!! My kids enjoyed her. She was very knowledgeable of her job. She explained everything to me and as a parent, this meant the world to me. It's not often where you find good genuine people that really seem to care about what they do on a daily basis. Kudos to Amanda for putting a smile on my kids and I face! I definitely would be requesting her on the next visit. Keep up the great job Amanda! Way to go Kool Smiles!

I really enjoyed my experience with my babies I have 9 children and 5 had to get dental work done today and everything went in a timely fashion. Our appointments started at 10 and we were done by 12:30. For 5 babies that was great and they was really busy that day. I also enjoyed my babies dental assistants Jessica, Dale, Shun, and Greg and they have the BEST receptionist that greets you when you first come in also.
Tips & Advices
The most common dental problems in children are:
  • Cavities
  • Bad breath
  • Gum disease
  • Sensitive teeth
  • Grinding
  • Canker sores
  • Missing teeth
  • Extra teeth
  • Bite and alignment issues
Thumb sucking is not specifically a dental problem, but it can cause a malocclusion, a condition where the top and bottom teeth don't line up correctly.
To clean a baby's teeth, use a small, soft-bristled toothbrush designed specifically for infants. Apply a tiny amount of non-fluoride toothpaste - about the size of a grain of rice - and gently brush all sides of the teeth and the tongue. Before the baby's first teeth emerge, use gauze or a wet washcloth wrapped around the finger to wipe the gums. This motion doesn't necessarily reduce bacteria, but it does help the infant to get used to the sensation of having his or her teeth cleaned.
Children should visit their pediatric dentist every six months. This recommended frequency does not change throughout a person's lifetime.
No, wisdom teeth do not need to be removed unless they cause pain, lead to dental issues, or are aligned incorrectly.
Yes, dental sealants prevent cavities by filling in deep grooves in the teeth. Without them, bacteria can collect in these areas and cause tooth decay, which can happen with children.
