Akins Plumbing & Septic

It was 1 in the morning and had called several other companies and no answer. Akins answered within the first 2 rings and got here early in the morning to fix the problem. Akins will be my go to midnight service! LOL

Jesse Haney came. on a Sunday morning to fix a water leak. After returning from a week out of state, we returned to a leaky ceiling in the basement. I turned the water to the house off in the yard. He was able to locate the inside shut off valve, that previous plumbers never could. It was difficult to determine what was leaking, there was a lot of water damage present. But he investigated and was able to fix the problem. He was knowledgeable, thorough, pleasant, and timely. I will definitely use him for any other plumbing needs, keeping there number in my contacts. I will recommend him to my family, friends, and neighbours

I have rental property in the Northern Atlanta area and had a real disaster with a septic tank. A good friend of mine referred me to Akins Plumbing and Septic. He told me that he has relied on them on more than one occasion. So I gave them a shot at it. I was very pleased with the out come. there service got me out of hot water with my tenant. HA HA. I would refer them to someone else definitely.

We had our septic back up into our tubs and toilets and was in quite a situation that needed to be attended to as quick as possible! We called three different companies and all said couldn't come out until next day. I was actually calling plumbers in a doctor's waiting room this morning and someone over heard me and recommended Akins Plumbing. I called them at 900 am and their technician, Daniel Holt, was at my house by 11:00 am. Mr. Holt was polite, professional and sincere. Mr. Holt was well informed and patient. We also felt the final charge was fair- actually it was a good deal. We will use Akins Plumbing for all of our future plumbing needs. Akins plumbing & septic came out in the rain over the holiday weekend and repaired and pumped our septic system when I could get no one else on the phone

We were in the due diligence period of buying a house in the Lawrenceville area, and ordered a septic inspection, and right before closing we ordered a tank pump-out. We were charged $425 for one and $250 for the other totaling $675. Everyone seemed very nice, and they worked with our inability to be present for the work. I was looking forward to establishing a good relationship with a local vendor rather than a big-name company since they're local. We discovered later that none of the work was done. ??!!! Clearly the employee dug about a foot down at the top of the driveway and put the dirt back. That is all. Underneath that dirt is granite rock. Our tank is on the opposite side of the house which we discovered because this week we had a backup into the house and needed them to come out and fix the clog. To be fair, I was told by the person filling today's work that the person from before, Clark, no longer is with the company. Also, the guy today (11/25/15) was nice, informative, and is coming back tomorrow on Thanksgiving morning to finish some things like putting on a new lid and putting the dirt back because the current lid is cracked, and help try to rebuild our trust and good will considering we were totally lied to and our money was taken and no work done originally. We're reserving judgement until after the job is finished, and waiting to see if proper follow-up is done by management. The one-star rating is for the previous experiences when we were charged for work and given receipts for work that was never done, including the inspection invoice that was clearly made-up and a total lie.



11/28/15 - Update *********



Pursuant to the earlier part of this review I'm adding our most recent experience.

Nick came out for the septic service call on 11/25 and spend five hours answering my million questions about septic systems, how they work, how ours works, what to expect, my disgust with the earlier experience, and he was helpful, worked diligently and dug out the opening which was four feet deep (not the depth stated in the fake inspection report from the ex-employee), checked things out, cleared the clog, pumped the tank, and has things working well again.

Due to the aforementioned issues Akins agreed to put a new cap on the tank (old one was cracked into three pieces with a pressure-treated 2x6 thrown over it) and put a container of septic scrub (comes up on Google for about $230) free of charge because of our earlier experience. It was clear that the people who sold us the house left the house with a clogged septic and didn't disclose the problem.

Nick came back on Thanksgiving morning (kudos for extra effort on his part) and finished everything up which we appreciated. We're both professionals and detest working on holidays so we recognize the extra effort and diligence on Nicks part to represent his company well and show the our previous experience was not part of Akins company culture.

Nick called today 11/28/15 stating he requested to follow upon behalf of his boss Ricky to ensure things are working well, apologize again for our previous bad experience, and ensure that we will continue to feel comfortable calling Akins for future septic needs.

We feel that given how things were handled by Nick that if we need future service from Akins we will receive diligence commensurate with the reputation Akins wants to maintain in the community. We would probably ask for Nick specifically.

One bad employee doesn't make a bad company, but how a negative experience is handled and how sincere a company is about owning the situation and showing transparency makes all the difference.

We called Akins Plumbing on a Friday morning because of our septic system backing up into the house. We had an appointment set up for noon and were called way earlier by a plumber who was ready to help. They handled our problem immediately and worked hard all day in the rain. We are extremely happy with this company. Clark and Preston were very professional and I would definitely call them again.

We called Akins on a Saturday evening when we noticed our water backing up and they came early Sunday morning to fix the problem. The septic tank was not located where it should have been and was also deeper than it should have been, so they had to return the following day with heavy equipment in order to pump the septic tank. While working on the tank, they discovered another problem that originated from the original installation of the tank. We were very impressed by their knowledge and expertise as they were able to explain everything that was wrong. We did not feel pressured to go forward with the extra work we needed to have done in order to have the tank fixed properly, but felt we could make the decision based on the knowledge they shared with us about the situation. We were very impressed with how they took the time to explain the situation rather than just telling us we needed to have this done, or worse, just doing the work and charging us extra. The expenses we incurred were reasonable considering the amount of work they had to put in to this job. They did a great job and didn't charge an outrageous amount just because they could have. We will definitely call them for any future needs.

Akins has done a great job for us twice. First time repaired a toilet then replaced 2 for us. Knowledgeable and real, two things all customers want.... local company which we try to support.
