Piccolo's Friendly Movers
They moved us to our new home. It was a local move only about 7 miles. We hired them for all the furniture and about 50 boxes. We got one other bid from a competitor and Piccolo's Friendly Movers. I spoke to Jeff, the owner, about my quote. His quote was competitive with the other quote I received. Piccolo's had the better insurance coverage included in his price, the other company tried to sell me more coverage. Member Comments: Jeff, sent me an email about the rooms and items I wanted moved as a confirmation. Jeff also called me the day before the move to ensure everything was still good for our move. The morning of the move the team showed up at the time they said they would, they also called on their way to my house. The moving team was four guys, with one of them being the foreman. The crew was very friendly. They all introduced themselves to me before we did a walk through of my house to confirm and identify what was being moved. They were very good with our stuff. They took their time on some very heavy pieces that needed to be moved from the 2nd floor. They actually did a better job moving the items than the delivery company that delivered the items to our home originally. They wrapped all furniture in the room before they moved it to the truck. They also took apart all the beds and bed frames and wrapped those items as well. They also moved our upright piano. Upon arriving at our new house, again they were very courteous and asked where all the pieces should go. They reassembled all the items they had disassembled. They were careful bringing in all the pieces and boxes. As we unpack or looked over our furniture we did not see any damage. It was a long day and the crew worked very hard from beginning to the end. They made my family very happy by getting us setup in our new home. This was our first experience using a mover and we were afraid of all the rumors about bad experiences with movers. I am glad to say that Piccolo's Friendly Movers, has proved those to be nothing but rumors. Our experience was very positive and I would not hesitate using them or recommending them to someone who needs to move.

Price estimate given on the phone by Jeff immediately, final price came in a little under the upper part of the range. Received multiple confirmation phone calls, guys arrived at 2 different locations with 2 different trucks as expected. They were friendly, professional, and kept working without issue. Sure, they chatted from time to time, but generally seemed to get along well and consequently worked as a team. They had issues getting a sofa bed pushed back into place, but got it done without complaint and made sure they tied it together so it wouldn't happen when we go to move the sofa bed again. They were also good at making sure everything got into the POD and storage unit safely. All of the guys were great about wrapping everything to keep it safe, more than I ever would - but much appreciated! I would hire them again - and just may have to when it comes to loading the stuff from the storage unit into another POD for travel! It's nice to stand out of the way and watch them work so effortlessly. No regrets whatsoever and happy to recommend their services.I've used Piccolo's twice. Both involving more than one location. The first time furniture was being taken from 3 different houses and loaded into a POD, the second time it was being taken from 2 different properties, some stuff dropped at a third, and the balance loaded into a storage unit.

Piccolo's Friendly Movers
We hired Piccolo's Friendly Movers to move us from a townhouse to a 4 bedroom single home. I cannot say enough great things about our experience. The day before our move Jeff called to confirm our appointment, he was very friendly and helped put my mind at ease. The morning of our move the movers were running ahead of schedule and called to make sure an early arrival would be ok. Things went very smoothly at our old house and when they arrived at our new house they were just as quick and efficient. They estimated that the move would take 7 hours but they finished early. I really cannot say enough wonderful things about how professional, efficient, and personable they were, although we are not planning on moving again anytime soon I would use them again in a heartbeat. Also, although I read a few reviews on here stating that this business has an F rating with the BBB and all bad reviews with angies list, I checked and found the exact opposite. They actually have an A+ rating with the BBB and are the highest rated local moving company on all of angies list and saw that they actually just won some super service award. I highly recommend these guys!

We were extremely pleased with this moving company. We have moved a number of times with various results from moving companies. There are several reasons we would (and have) recommended Piccolo's. First and over the phone quote was quite helpful. The result (due to my over estimate of the amount to be moved) was a bill below the quoted amount. But more importantly, the movers called as they were on the way and arrived when agreed upon. They worked quickly, professionally and treated our furniture as though it was their own. The crew that did the work was polite and willing to answer any questions we had. They packed, unpacked, reassembled and placed our furniture exactly where we wanted. In one case I had miscalculated the size of one of the rooms and we needed to change the furniture configuration - they did this willingly and did not make me feel as though I was imposing upon them. All in all, we were so pleased that we have just booked them for our next move which will be in a couple of months. We most definitely recommend this company!!!

This could not have possibly gone more smoothly. They showed up to our townhouse about 15 minutes early. I took our three kids and pet to the new house and they coordinated with my husband. They had the furniture disassembled, wrapped and on the truck with our boxes within about 3 hours. At the new house they reassembled everything and placed it all for us. They even managed to deal with two tricky twin beds that somehow had about 1,000 parts a piece! They were very fast, really nice guys, very careful. We've unpacked about 85% of the boxes and so far, not a single thing broken. All said, they managed to move us in about 6 hours. Worth every penny and more! The team moved us out of a 3 story town house with narrow, pokey stairs and into a ranch. The townhouse was built in 1892 so had tall, narrow stairs, narrow hallways, narrow everything! I am absolutely amazed with these guys' hard work.

Piccolo's Friendly Movers
These guys helped us get from Harrisburg to New York City. I have moved several times, due to my job, and I must say that these were the nicest movers I have ever had. From the moment they walked in, I was extremely comfortable. Not only were they nice but they were awesome! They wrapped every piece of furniture before moving it onto the truck. They took everything apart and put it back together for us in NY. They even packed a few odds and ends for us that we had forgotten to pack. Jeff had given us a price range for the move and I honestly thought that the high number of the price range would be our final price. When it was time to pay and Jeff and I talked, I was completely SHOCKED to hear the the final price was actually BELOW the low price of the range. He told me that he overestimated the gas so the price would be a little lower. I would recommend them to anyone!!!

I spoke with five different moving companies before deciding on using these guys. The price Jeff gave on the phone wasn't the highest or the lowest out of all the quotes we received. The reason i used this company was because Jeff made me feel very comfortable. I made a great decision. We were moving a 2,000 square foot home and a large storage unit into a home. A problem with closing delayed us about 3 hours, and the guys didn't bat an eye! They were extremely helpful. When I called Jeff, he told me to take care of what I had to and they would be ready when we were done. Besides the fact that the move went exactly how we had wished it would, the guys were extremely fun to be around. This made for a less stressful moving day. I have already referred to coworkers to them and won't hesitate to refer anyone who asks. Thanks Piccolo's for making our move a great experience!

Piccolo's Friendly Movers
I can't say enough positive things about Jeff and his company. We had another moving company, Moving Made Awesome, not show up on our moving day. In a panic, my wife and I did not know what to do. I got ahold of Jeff, and he said that he could have his team get to my house after the job they were already doing. They showed up at about 2pm, about an hour earlier that he had said. They worked until 830pm to get us fully moved. We had to get moved that day because our closing was at 830am the next day. Not only did they get all of our stuff moved safely, but they did it at a price that was even better that the original guys we hired that never showed up. On top of all of that, they made the move fun. They made our two young boys feel like they were contributing and our boys were actually sad to see them go when the move was done. I would recommend them to anyone!!

I normally do not take the time to leave reviews, but I had to here. I had a moving company not show up for our move. I frantically was calling around and Jeff called me back. I'd like to add that I left about 10 voice mails for different companies, and Jeff was the only one that called me back. I was in a 2 bedroom townhome. Jeff explained that he was fully booked but asked if he could call me back n about 10 minutes. I honestly thought I would never hear from him again. He called me back and said the crew he had out was willing to come move me after their current move was finished. They showed up at 3pm and worked straight through until almost 9, a crew of 3. Not once did they complain. They were suoer friendly and actually it was fun. The move went great. Nothing was damaged. I am so appreciative for these guys. Jeff, you have a great crew! Thank you.

Piccolo's Friendly Movers
These guys were amazing from my initial phone call until our final piece of furniture was put back together. Everything that the owner, Jeff, said would happen, happened. They called a few days before the move to confirm the move and let us know who the foreman would be. The guys called on the way to our house on the day of our move. Then to watch these guys work as a team was amazing. The took everything apart and by the time they actually carried to the truck, everything was completely protected. I'm not exactly sure how they fit so much stuff in that truck. Then at our new house, they put everything where we wanted it and put everything back together for us. We have 2 kids and they were great with them as well. Not only was the job done to my satisfaction, but these guys made our move fun. I would recommend these guys highly to anyone looking for movers!
Tips & Advices
Yes, it’s best to empty drawers, wardrobes and chests before a move. Items always get knocked around a bit, and doors can fly open even if they’ve been taped. In fact, more often than not, movers will want to remove the drawers from a dresser--or disassemble the wardrobe to be more space-efficient.
Yes, it is customary to tip movers, but the amount varies widely. For full-service moves, a 5 percent tip is suggested, although, for extra service, some people go up to 10 percent . For small local movers, you can give each mover $10 for a few-hour job, or $20-$40 for jobs that take longer.
A bill of lading is the legal contract for the move. It provides a detailed receipt, in addition to a contract between the client and the mover. It authorizes the mover to transport the goods from one specific point to another, and it outlines the exact scope of services, with cost breakdown for those services. It also provides an itemized list of the inventory, and carrier liability protection for each declared item. Finally, it specifies the payment arrangement. Make sure to go over your itemized list extremely carefully before finalizing the paperwork--and get a copy of the full document. A good mover will go over everything on the bill of lading with the customer.
There are several items that moving companies will not move – those items will be listed on a document as “non-allowables.” These items typically fall in three categories: perishables, sentimental/personal items, and hazardous material. Perishables are food and plants. Sentimental/personal value is up to the client to decide, but usually includes jewelry, medical and dental records, personal paperwork, valuables and collectibles. Hazardous material is the tricky category, since it includes a lot of everyday items found in the garage, garden or kitchen. For example, cleaning liquids and pesticides both are considered non-allowable by many companies. Some go so far as to disallow nail polish and batteries.
A binding estimate means that the moving company cannot charge more than the stated amount, though they can lower the final bill if the scope of the job was smaller than expected. A non-binding moving estimate is more likely to wind up costing more than expected, since the movers can increase their rates for unforeseen variables like stairs, “long carry” and materials.
