If you are Gluten free, this is not the restaurant for you. The first time I ordered a salad and got sick. The second time, I ordered sweet potato fries and again got sick. This last time, I ordered a Veggie stack and went into detail about my dietary needs. It was brought on two buns!

Cold beer, the best burger in town. The Jester burger is my fav. with a cold 64. My friends and I have been gathering together there for years. The bands are awesome. No cover, $2 beer. Priceless!

Lots of new restaurants and venues have been popping up since my San Marcos exit. As fun as they are, they will never have the San Marcos tone I remember and all of the memories I've accumulated in that town. I have no idea how many hours I spent at Showdown: The Amusement Bar in the duration of my college career and that thought is now making me a little uncomfortable so let's focus in on a more happy nostalgia shall we? I love that there is an upstairs and two back rooms. I love that there is a jukebox that everyone is constantly slinging quarters into. I love that if someone picks a bad song, the bartenders turn it off and make fun of that person in a microphone. I love all the vintage crap hanging from the walls and ceiling. I love the two pool tables old-school arcade game, and Pacman table. And I certainly love the BLOODY MARYS. This place is awesome, so yes, run, don't walk.

Triple Crown was fun today. The bartender there gave some really strong drinks so it didn't cost me much. She was simple but cute, kind of nerdy.
6.Black Rabbit Saloon
127 E Hopkins St
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Hardy-Williams building was built in 1886 and is located at 127 E. Hopkins. An addition was added to the back of the existing building around the turn of the century, almost doubling the size of the structure. The building has housed many businesses over the years, including a blacksmith, a pharmacy and drugstore, and currently, the Black Rabbit Saloon! Renovations for the Black Rabbit Saloon kept much of the old world charm of the 130 year old building, choosing to feature the original stucco and limestone walls and original "drugstore tile" floors throughout much of the building. The Black Rabbit Saloon offers a unique nightlife choice in San Marcos, Texas. One which offers flat-screen televisions at every angle for all your sports needs, thewidest selection of spirits in town (beautifully displayed above the horseshoe stylebar!) And San Marcos' only big kids game room! Skee-Ball, pool, basketball,Golden Tee, darts, and a multitude of video games, both old-school and new!

Best mexican martini's in town! I love sitting outside and watching all the people at the river
336 W Hopkins St
Still one of my favorites. With its combination of indoor bar and outdoor seating, Zellicks has the perfect balance of excitement and laid-back socializing. There's no loud music blaring over speakers at every table, so this is one of the few bars I can have conversations and actually hear myself talk. The drinks aren't necessarily that special, but the atmosphere is pretty great.
10.Harpers Brick Oven Sports Pub

Its a nice place to hangout with friends unlike other pizza places, here you can avail offers like making your own salad, and don't forget to try their brick oven baked wings.
11.Restless Wind Inc

I spent many a night in this bar and it is great. The only bar i found in san marcos that has a little older crowd and you can actually talk to someone while in it without yelling. I definitely recommend it.

In a time that feels long ago, I was a Tap Room regular. The bartenders still remember me and my favorite drink to this day. While many of the bars on the square have undergone changes to stay hip and new, Tap Room has remained consistent and true to its strengths: Warm Atmosphere, Friendly service, Well Poured Drinks, Great Food. I'm definitely surprised that there aren't at least a hundred 5 star reviews for this place, especially since I know countless close friends that have literally called this place home for the last few years. I can't think of another place that truly treats its patrons like family. By far my favorite bar in Texas.
202 E San Antonio St
By far one of my favorite places to go eat at. The Irish grub with a Texas twist is refreshing from the bland Mexican food and bad BBQ that has overrun the town. If you're feeling adventurous then there are a lot of beers to sample that you can't find elsewhere. Not to mention the atmosphere will keep you coming back.
