It is where I saw the best concert ever, thanks to Frank. I got to see Rusted Root. AMAZING The venue is now my favorite ANY WHERE. everyone has an amazing seat. The drinks are reasonable unlike other places (where you can't even see the stage in most seat) You can afford to have a few drinks. Everyone is laid back, It's time to have fun and listen to some great music when you go to knuckleheads. Thanks again Frank You Rule, and gave Sheila and Rick the Best night this year yet and dough that it will be beat. Rock on.......

Irwin & I get together once or twice a year. We like to catch up, have a couple drinks and eat dinner. When I lived in Westport some years ago, I use to eat at Mike Kelly's Westsider occasionally. It was usually pretty good fare. \r \r I suggested the place to Irwin, who had never been there and we planned to meet the following Wednesday. \r \r It was a warm rainy night and customers were milling around waiting for the weather to clear before leaving. We chose a table in the front middle of the room and awaited service.\r \r We noticed our forty-something waiter pecking his way across the room. He stopped at four or five tables (occupied or otherwise) before he acknowledged us - well, sort of acknowledged us. He popped over to the table and asked us what we wanted. As Irwin asked him a question ""M"" as we shall call him ( not Mike Kelly ) looked the other way and acted as though he did not hear him. He kind of stared towards the kitchen and then floated back to us.\r \r We placed our drink order (beer) and asked for menus. When M came back he awkwardly placed our drinks down and sped off.\r \r The rain stopped and most of the patrons left.\r \r When we signaled M down we had a few questions about the menu and decided what to order. We ordered more drinks and in a sudden unexpected motion M pulled the empty glasses from the table.\r \r Our next round came and we were caught up in good conversation. A small puddle of beer ( half ounce ) appeared and I called M over. As I asked him for something to wipe it up, he reached down, flung my small paper napkins down on the beer and said ""Use that"" and walked away. Irwin and I looked at each other with incredulity.\r \r A couple minutes later he poked back around and used a handful more bar naps to take care of the problem. \r M said nothing to us the entire visit other than what he was absolutely required to. No ""how's it going?"" or ""Hey guys, everything alright?"" or ""Man, look at it rain!"" or even ""How's that steak?"" \r \r As our attention was drawn towards M we realized something odd was going on. When he would pass a table he would suddenly grab an empty glass and jerk it up into his grasp. Other times he would pirouette around a table to grab his victims. \r \r Our dinners came and were plopped down in a herky jerky fashion. Again we were surprised.\r \r Irwin ordered the mexican-like special and was not impressed. it had cookied veggies and sauces but was all too soft and without substance - but not entirely bad mind you. He ate about half.\r \r I sprung for the 12 dollar steak. The cook knew what he was doing! Nice cut of meat, cooked the way I ordered it and very tasty. Well worth the price. But the damage had already been done.\r \r I noticed that we were about the only ones there that were eating dinner. \r \r A little band of some sort was going to play later and a young longhair with his cute girlfriend slid in the back door and anounced how cool the rainbow was. I excused myself and went out to the parking lot and they were right. They joined me and we quietly watched, dumbly smiling at each other.\r \r I turned and glanced back at the door and M was standing inside staring at me. Creeeeepy.... \r \r Fifty bucks. That's what our drinks and dinner cost. On an early Wednesday evening with few other diners at Mike's Westsider, I could only bring myself to tip 10%.\r \r Irwin & I went out the front and decided to stop right next door at the ""Boozefish."" As we entered we sat at the bar and the sweet longtime owner came over and recognized me. She happily took our order and Irwin ordered a lite salmon special which proved to be delicous. We realigned ourselves and our evening ended happily after all. \r \r JM July 18, 2010\r \r \r \r
4.KC Smokehouse Pub
8431 Wornall Rd
KC Smokehouse Pub is a family owned business. Our goal is simple – bring the best BBQ to the greatest sports bar. We care about our local sports teams, and we care about great food. That’s why we smoke everything in house. A lot of those other places smoke offsite and simply reheat in the restaurant. Not us. The magic happens right here. Every. Single. Day. Add to that the very best and freshest ingredients (nothing is ever frozen!), and you’ve got the makings of a killer meal, while surrounded by sports from all across the country. And have we mentioned that we’re a sports BAR? Cocktails? We’ve got a fully stocked bar with premium liquors and spirits. Craft beer? How about one of the best beer selections in town? We’ve got it all, right here at KC Smokehouse Pub. So, who’s running the show? A dad and his two sons, that’s who. Steve (the dad) has been a KC business owner for over 20 years. Josh has been a staple in the competition BBQ circuit for years. Tyler is a classily trained chef. Josh’s BBQ recipes and Tyler’s formal cooking skills combine to form one of the most unique BBQ menus in all of KC. Unique burgers (Tender burnt ends on an Angus burger? Yes please!), handhelds, and appetizers to cover all tastes and preferences. Oh, and the wings . . . . THE WINGS. Trust us – you’ll want a second order real quick . . . So, you have some of the best BBQ KC has ever seen, combined with a legit sports bar environment, and a perfect bar to wash the day away. What else could you want? Oh, live entertainment on the weekends with no cover charge? Yeah, we have that to. Come on down to KC Smokehouse Pub. Grab some grub and raise a glass to your favorite team. We’ve got you covered.

I randomly found this place after being a northland customer my whole life. I'm in my mid 20's and used to spend my time at Zona Rosa in places like O'Dowds and Tomfooleries. Now that those places are closed, the only alternative was to go to brewtop in the northland, and I really can't stand most of the clientele that goes there. A friend of mine mentioned Final Approach, but I'm not a ""hole in the wall"" type person. I'm so glad I listened to him. We went on a Friday night and it was PACKED! The bar staff was fast and it took no time at all to get a drink (another reason I don't like Brewtop), it was affordable, the people there were fun, great looking women and a band that packed the place. The bartenders were a blast, seemingly having as much fun as we were. All in all, I definitely give this bar five stars!

The security is most all new! The Drag shows are all most new too AND MUCH BETTER! The drinks & staff are grand!....assuming you keep a close eye on it so those they've kicked out before don't attempt to slip anything into your drink. The layout is new & very comfortable. If you respect yourself you won't be seen with the horrible person two comments below. That's the problems they've gotten rid of! So COME ON DOWN! Pros: Yes, they DO pay their taxes unlike you. lol Cons: From security to atmosphere this place is a 10 now in comparison to what it was before! lol

When I moved to KC from California I was heartbroken to leave my bevy of delicious Mexican and south American food places. I tried maybe 30 restaurants in KC and was about to give up when I found a tiny hole in the wall establishment called El Pueblito... I went in, ordered, expecting the same nasty ""queso"" over the same nasty canned beans, and to my amazement I got real Mexican cheese on my enchiladas. No Parmesan, no cheddar, no Monterey jack! It was fantastic! I ordered mole next and it was sweet, chocolaty and perfectly done. The service is friendly, they dont always speak the best English, but that makes it even better :) I love how authentic it is! Everyone is nice, they're happy to serve you and the food is killer!

You'll hear quality Jazz and witness the good facets of musicianship. Veterans passing along knowledge to the young, Mix and Match groupings of players producing quality entertainment. Smoke-Free environment (You'll leave smelling no worse than when you came in). Good service. Decor reminiscent of ""K.C's"" Jazz heyday. Unfortunately no food (Designated part of the American Jazz Museum) Local musicians grace the stage throughout the month. 3 to 4 times in that period headliner groups make their statement known. My Favorite

This use to be the last place I would go when drinking in Waldo, since they close at 3am. But they remodeled, and have a great bartender Dan, who has turned this former dive into a happening place. Interesting music, people, and good pitcher prices. Great altunative to the drunken rave crowd that has taken over Tanners in the late night..
