McFarlin LLP
This will be the first review I have ever written....Background of why I had to obtain an Attorney. I had been dealing with my Mortgage Lender and trying for 3 years, and was promised help reducing my Mortgage payment over and over. Since the down turn in the economy which started in my business in 2006 (loan officer/real estate), I saw my income cut in half, and could not keep up, and My reserves were tapped out. In 2010 I fell behind and my bank promised me help, if I worked directly with them, but did nothing but give intentional bad information over and over..... Resulting in my modification submissions being denied, based on bad information forwarded to me by the bank representatives.... When "Blatant Fraud" came into play, I knew I didn't want to lose my biggest asset I worked so hard for, so I called" several" law offices including, McFarlin LLP for help. I met with Tim McFarlin, who I felt never promised, or over promised me any results like other law offices, but rather told me the way things go. All I wanted was to get my loan modified to a payment that I could afford, to reflect the current economic climate. But in doing that we had to Sue the lender for all of the things I was claiming. The lender requested the law suit be dropped against them, but the judge denied that, and requested modification mediation instead, or the law suit would move forward, I'm sure based on the facts, and the complaint my Attorney sent in. My Attorneys knew that was not what I wanted, just a modification, and although it took time.......I received my modification this may!! The Attorney that handled my case directly was Connie Catone, who tolerated me to the best of anyone's ability, as I had become stressed, and paranoid based on my personal dealings with my lender..... She kept me calm, when I wasn't.. Dealing with this kind of stress changes you. I was glad one of us could keep their head about them during this process, and for that I am grateful to her. She was not who I hired, but Tim must of felt she would be the best fit. As far as the things I look for, phone calls, and emails being returned, and things explained....She followed through, always. I also had direct dealings with Mary Guenther, who worked with me to get all the stuff needed to the lender for this modification submission. she was patient and calming like Connie, and also followed up in a very timely manner with whatever I needed. She was great! I would recommend if you have this kind of issue with your mortgage you give them a call as well.......Sincerely,Teena Cardiel, Orange Ca

McFarlin LLP
I had been working with my mortgage company for over a year and half trying to modify my loan without success, and then for a few months with another "consultant" who was supposed to help, but was only a waste of money. Then with my back against the wall, a week before my foreclosure sale date I contacted McFarlin LLP to see if there was anything they could do to help. I researched them on the better business bureau website, Yelp, and other review boards and found positive reviews, so I was happy because my time was running out. From the very first phone call the representative took the ball and ran. They collected all of my information and was preparing all of the paperwork for the court in a matter of three days. Everyone I spoke with was professional and understanding. I liked that they were honest and said they could not guarantee the bank would modify the loan, but they would do all that was in their power to help me get it done. They were in court for my case four or five days after I contacted them. I received updates any time there was activity on my case, which I really appreciated. I never had to call and ask what was going on. They never seemed to mind when I did call with questions I had. My case was complicated, but in the end, they were able to help me get the modification and I was VERY happy with the final results. Their fees were well worth the service received.I worked directly with Joe, Connie, Gary, and Mary. It was nice that Tim also set aside time to introduce himself before the file was handed over to my assigned attorney. I worked with Gary and Mary for the majority of my process and they were GREAT! I would recommend McFarlin to anyone who needed assistance with their modification.

We are a hard working "Christian family",  who had gone though the modification "torture mill" with Bank of America and several "fraudulent loan modification firms/attorneys", who had left us in worst conditions then we entered when they were closed down by the Attorney General's office ..We were in a desperate situation because Bank of America, after months of playing games with us, leading us on and pretending to be helping us by having us apply for programs they NEVER had intentions of giving us. Actually they were on the fast track of trying to foreclose on our home after reneging on honoring several modification! We knew we had to FIGHT bank 'legally"... So we called  Tim McFarlin (McFarlin LLP)! Our first contact was with Paul Rodriguez who brought us into the office to meet Paul . So, with the help of Tim McFarlin..who organized a legal team consisting primarily of Connie Catone and Jarrod Nakano  (and several other attorneys during different period), his legal Secretary Mary Guenther who kept us in the loop during the entire process, assisting us in the proper way to fill out the paperwork and sending us status emails as our case...she was AWESOME!  Our case went a little over 2 years! But,  McFarlin  were able to keep us in our home during that time and we walked away with a better modification and one in which BofA will remain under the watchful eye of the courts if they try to renege on this one! Throughout our entire, STRESSFUL ordeal with Bank of America, we found our lawyers to be sensitive and caring...wanting to get US the best deal possible. We had a excellent experience with with McFarlin and would highly recommend them!Blessings,Renita and D'Andre Franklin

Avrek Law Firm
I had no idea what to do when I was hit by a car while I was riding my bike in Orange. It was seriously one of the scariest times of my life and also one of the most painful. I ended up having a broken leg, several fractured ribs, a head injury, and bruises and scrapes all over my body. I had received something in the mail from Avrek Law Firm about six months prior to the accident and I had remembered it, so I looked them up online and saw that they were pretty active in Orange County for personal injury. When I called, I talked to Melody, one of the attorneys. She was really friendly and answered all of my questions. She also told me that their firm had relationships with a lot of doctors in the area and they could send me to specialists to help me with my injuries. Because I was so hurt and in so much pain, this definitely appealed to me.The first week that I signed up with Avrek Law Firm, they had already set me up with several doctors that could help me recover. I was also seen by a neurologist because my hospital records indicated that I had head trauma. These doctors that they set me up with were amazing, not only because they were knowledgeable and kind, but because they didn't require payment until after my case had settled. I didn't have the money to pay for any specialists or a neurologist, but they made sure that I received the attention that I needed. I ended up with thousands of dollars in my pocket as compensation for my injuries. Avrek Law Firm and Maryam Parman were amazing in the help that they gave me and the support that I needed. Without their assistance, I probably would not have been able to recover and get back to my normal life. Thanks Avrek Law!

The Goldberg Legal Group
I can't get more satisfied. My case involved divorce and child custody. From the moment I talked to Mr. Goldberg on the phone to schedule the initial meeting, he put me on the right track. We met the next day for two hours for no charge. Mr. Goldberg explained to me the process from beginning to end and all available options as well as their costs. Mr. Goldberg listened carefully, assessed my situation, and then recommended the best options that weren't necessarily the highest cost as other lawyers did. He even greatly cut my total cost in this case. I am a father and it is not easy for a father in California to get a joint legal and physical custodies 50/50 and he was willing to pursue for more if I wanted to and that was not due to weakness points in my opponent rather than how good and clear he represented me before the court. I remember him saying when it came to the custody that the way to go in these cases is to focus on the children and their best interest and that what the court wanted and he is the best when it comes to satisfying that. Best of all, he wasn’t very costly or expensive compared to other law firms or lawyers and he was very flexible when it came to payments. You will know where you stand at all times and he takes care of all correspondence. I would have to say that he is the best and I would strongly recommend him to anyone who needs help in divorce or custody cases.

Avrek Law Firm
After being rear-ended in a construction zone by a semi-truck, I knew had a strong case. However, after working in the legal profession myself for more than a decade, I was selective with finding proper representation. While everyone wants “a good lawyer,” what drove my search was a bit different. I refused to support the all-too-common aggressive shark; I instead wanted to retain an attorney whose motives I believed in. I wanted to hire someone whose ethics and values resonated with my own – someone whose contingent fee I would feel good about supporting when the case was closed. I found Avrek Law Firm through reviews such as these. They piqued my interest with their vast social reputation. I appreciated their tech-savvy nature, and their clients’ reviews were all positive to boot. The attorneys at Avrek Law are all down-to-earth, honest, humble, and caring – rare traits in this field.Throughout the case, I was confident having Maryam Parman by my side. She kept me well-informed, emailed often, and even drove to my office to meet. When hiring an attorney, you have a choice, and I am honored to say that I chose Avrek Law Firm’s Maryam Parman – a lawyer whose ethics and personality not only earned my business, but also should be the standard in attorney-client relationships.

Avrek Law Firm
I was involved in a very serious accident in 2013. I was hit by a car when crossing a cross walk. The car was making a right turn and did not even see me. I was taken to the hospital and after they repaired my broken hip I hired an attorney from Newport Beach. Three months later, I was not working and not receiving any medical attention. I started looking for a different attorney and a friend referred me to Avrek Law Firm. I can't express the surprise in the difference in the service that I received. Avrek was able to set me up with a specialist and I received much needed physical therapy. I was kept informed every step of the way and felt that I was actively involved in my own case. It was so easy to contact the attorneys and the staff. They each give you their direct number, direct fax and email addresses. Only three months after I hired Avrek, they got me a substantial settlement. I am truly grateful for the incredible compassion, accessibility to the entire staff at Avrek. Joann W.

Avrek Law Firm
I was in an car accident in May of 2014 and a friend referred me to Avrek Law Firm . I was presently surprised by the receptive demeanor and overall friendliness. The attorneys at Avrek Law Firm are not the typical arrogant attorneys, like ones I have dealt with in the past. I explained my case and he took the time (I actually got to speak to the head attorney Maryam Parman) to get all of my details and I Attorney Parman explained what options I had. As my case proceeded Maryam informed me or had one of her highly competent staff inform me of what was going on in every stage of my case. They also was able to secure additional funds for me from the insurance company that I didn’t even know I was entitled to (surely the insurance company would not have told me if I would have tried to handle this myself). The result was a generous recovery with little to no effort on my part. My suggestion, if you are looking for great representation and fair treatment, Avrek Law will be there for you!

Avrek Law Firm
Dealing with the stress of my accident was overwhelming and stressful, but with Avrek Law Firm I gained a sense of relief. I felt at ease with their friendly and communicative staff who followed up with me to let me know the status of my case. It was difficult enough overcoming the aftermath of my motorcycle accident; I couldn’t deal with all the chaos of taking care of extensive medical bills, too. I chose the right firm to represent me: they were attentive to all my questions and misunderstandings and I felt that they were fighting for me. I was a person who needed help and they handled everything, and more. They didn’t make me feel like I was just another case, I felt like they wanted to help me and do all they can. I am very happy that I chose Avrek Law Firm to represent me and I don’t think another law group would have offered me the same experience. Thank you for all your help and I will definitely refer my friends and family if they ever face an unfortunate situation like me.

Avrek Law Firm
I found Avrek Law Firm on Yelp after getting hit by a car while crossing the street. I was stepping off the curb on my way home from class when a car came out of nowhere and hit me. I was knocked unconscious so I don’t remember much but when I awoke in the hospital I knew I was really injured. I am living on campus away from my parents and this was a scary process to have to face alone. The bills kept coming and I had to miss work and class because of my injuries. Luckily, I found Avrek on Yelp. After reading the reviews I felt like this was the right firm for me. I was so right. The Attorneys made me feel so comfortable and at ease. The staff was super helpful and caring and took care of everything for me. I got reimbursed for my books, bag and clothes that were ruined. I also got reimbursed for pain and suffering and missing work. I hope I never experience something like this again but if I do I am grateful to have the attorneys at Avrek Law to call for help. Thanks again, guys!
Tips & Advices
When it comes time to choose a lawyer, you should start by searching close to home. If you do have attorneys you are familiar with, ask who they believe would be best for you. After going through personal references - especially from individuals who had similar needs - you should broaden your search through public information resources. You can call your area's attorney referral service or check legal organizations like Martindale-Hubbell. There are other resources available online, such as yellowpages.com. You can check websites for client reviews and other third-party forms of approval.
If you sign documents and you come across a word you don't recognize, or you need help to navigate important employment or real estate paperwork. Also, during times when personal matters intersect with legal proceedings, you might need to have an advocate to prevent your emotions from getting in the way. If you've been accused of a crime or are in a terrible financial situation, you can find an attorney who will work with what you have available.
When you hire a lawyer, you're agreeing to work with someone over a certain period of time. The more forthcoming the lawyer appears to be with individual needs, the better.
  • You need to ask questions about how the attorney will communicate with you and what responsibilities you hold in the relationship.
  • The attorney should let you know the best channel for quick communication and you need to inform him or her when you want updates.
  • You should also ask questions to get to know the attorney as an individual in order to ensure this is a person you can trust. Ask about their legal philosophy and how he or she views the lawyer/client relationship. Ask as how to keep fees down or what daily disruptions you should expect from a long legal battle.
You need to ask about every possible fee that will come up when working with an attorney. You should request a list of all costs in advance so you won't be surprised by additional expenses like overhead. Also determine exactly when you will start being billed. You want to inspect paperwork carefully. If the attorney charges you for his or her experience, you need to make sure he or she will perform tasks personally and not hand it off to an assistant. Find out if the attorney has a flat fee or charges by the hour. Many civil lawyers work on contingency. Make inquiries about how the lawyer plans to provide service for your money and what you can do if you start to feel unsatisfied with his or her performance.
You can ask how many similar cases they have handled and if they have special skills or training that applies specifically to your needs. Lawyers can't mention clients by name, but you should ask for basic details about identical past cases. You should check their office for the appropriate certifications and diplomas. You can also ask how long he or she has practiced law and request information that demonstrates the practice's success. Look for precise details such as percentage of cases settled out of court.
