1/4/2017 I'm 80 years old and my wife of 54 yrs have traveled
extensively and we have never had a worse chicken club sandwich
than last night at Portofino on the river in Wyandotte. I wish the cook would go across the street to Wendy's and learn how to make one!

Horrible. Thought i would give this place a try what a mistake .Could not eat the steaks. My bill was 200 and the take home food went right in the trash . Had a group of 5 and all 5 said they would never eat here again.. I will stick to sibley gardens in trenton . Pricy but at least there you get great food.

I attended a recent wedding reception for friends at Portofino's. We were ushered to the back glass enclosed banquet room. Altho very pretty, facing the water, it was EXTREMELY HOT and extremely uncomfortable. Everyone was fanning themselves frantically, and some guests left soon after arriving. The elderly were obviously uncomfortable with the HOT conditions, Me and my husband included. Later I found the Grooms brother passed out of heat exhaustion and was taken out by ambulance. I DO NOT recommend this glass enclosed banquet room during ANY of the warmer months. Shame on you Portofino's. It was awful, and quite frankly RUINED an otherwise beautiful wedding party. If I were the bride and groom, I would have been LIVID and justifiably so. I bet they paid a pretty penny for that room...

I thought the food was awful, salad was brown, the meat was blah! And the portion and price, ridiculous! There was 4 in our group and we all felt the same way about our meals!

Nice view of the rive but horrible food!

The view of the river is nice, but the salad was kind of brown and all it was just lettuce, onions, and raisins... The crab stuffed shrimp was terrible, real fishy taste and smell. The veggies tasted plain and raw. They really need a better variety on their menu.

Portofino is a wonderful place to eat. I was present at the comedy club event this woman is refering to. She was obnoxious to the staff and she was also smoking in the bathroom (smoking ban in effect) like a 12 year old sneaking a smoke in the school stalls. I felt sorry for the bartender who was trying to be as polite as she could for as long as she could. The comedy room was full and I can understand how you might have to wait a few minutes when 150 people are ordering drinks all at once. Yet there is always that one person who thinks the world revolves around them. My husband and I had dinner before the show. let me tell you the stuffed flounder is to die for!! We also sat at the bar after the show and the bartender was friendly and doing her best to keep up with the high demand. Keep up the good work Portofinos!

I will never go back to Portofino's.

The girls and I from highschool got together and decided to go to the Comedy Room, fellow friends were having a fundraiser in the Comedy Room to raise funds for the Roar on the River. The place is absolutely beautiful but the service is horrible. While we were in the Comedy Room watching the comedians a waiter came up to our table and took our order for drinks and never came back, we had to leave the show to get our own drinks. There were menus on the table but no waitstaff! When the show was over we sat at the bar and I ordered another drink and the bartender never got it, 20 minutes later I asked her again, she yelled at me and told her manager that I called her names! I was appalled by this behavior and tried to explain that I did not the manager was rude to me and so was the one above that one. I will never step foot in that place again nor will I recommend it to anyone else and the food is just mediocre for the price, the place is a trainwreck when it comes to service. I think they can make this place better by getting new service managers or retraining the ones they have and the manager's should've jumped behind the bar to help the bartender out and maybe she wouldn't of been so stressed. Hopefully they can fix these problems.

My husband and I visited Portofino in downtown Wyandotte last Monday evening. It was our first time to this restaurant. We were very impressed with the atmosphere right on the river, and beautifully decorated for Christmas. We were very surprised when the waitress told us about bottles of wine being half off every Monday. What a deal! The food was absolutely fabulous which was made even better by the excellent service we received. Besides we were not aware of the other things this restaurant had to offer, a beautiful glass enclosed deck that is used for banquets, a comedy show almost right in our own backyard, a boat to cruise the Detroit River, and themed wine dinners. We cannot express the delight we felt knowing all this is wrapped up in one location so close to home.

Holiday On the River

Recently I attended a baby shower at Portofino. Not only was the buffet outstanding, but the entire restaurant was decorated beautifully for the holidays. I was very impressed. So impressed in fact, that later that week I decided to treat my family to an evening at Portofino. We were greeted by one of the friendliest hostesses and promptly sat at a table, with a great view of the water. Our server was very attentive and the food was excellent. We will definetely be returning for the half off bottles of wine on mondays and possibly for one of the many other events they have planned before the year ends.

Overall
Portofino is great all year round.

This year on black Friday, after all our shopping was finished, my husband and I found ourselves in downtown Wyandotte. We were absolutely starving. The choices seemed to be between coney island food, bar food, or the expensive lunch menu at the end of the road. Well, we decided that if we were going to spend a few dollars more, that we should also be able to enjoy the view as well, so we headed to Portofino. Not only were we completely floored by the reasonable lunch and dinner prices, but the new menu offers all sorts of great seafood dishes that we dont normally see downriver. The chefs and staff have really outdone themselves this time. Portofinos is keeping it classy all through the winter time, and the view is just as great as when we sit out on their patio. We will definetly be returning many more times, even before the good weather returns.
