Established in 1972, Durand Academy & Community Services is located in Woodbury, N. J. It is an independent, nonprofit agency that offers group homes for individuals with special needs, adult training services, family support and respite services. It also has a day school for children and offers a curriculum that includes reading, mathematics, language arts, science and social studies lessons. It provides tutorials and computer skill trainings to prepare students for state level. The organization also provides adult services for individuals with developmental and physical disabilities, including independent living skills lessons, prevocational training and employment and job training. Its programs are licensed by New Jersey s Division of Developmental Disabilities. The organization raises funds through the Durand Foundation by organizing various events, such as casino night, auctions, cocktail nights and sports tournaments.
