- Dr. Selznick joined the practice in 2007. He completed his training at Duke University Medical Center, one of the largest brain tumor centers in the country. He performs general neurosurgery with a special interest in brain tumor surgery, spine surgery, and functional neurosurgery including deep brain stimulation, epilepsy, and microvascular decompression. Dr. Selznick is also the co-director of the Virginia Comprehensive Epilepsy Program.

Provided by Doctor.comI saw Dr. Selznick last December. He identified two problems from my MRI. He was honest in that my other health issues precluded fixing both. He suggested which problem to fix first and the procedure was scheduled quickly. The outcome has been great and my hand pain is now manageable.

Provided by Doctor.comDr Selznick is one of the best doctors I've ever seen for anything. He really listened to me, he went over my MRI and my options. We eventually decided surgery was our best option. The day of surgery he made me and my family comfortable and at ease. I dont think I would have trusted anyone else to do the surgery!

Provided by Doctor.comI had a disc herniation at L5-S1. Dr Selznick performed a laminectomy / discectomy. I went home same day & was walking that evening. I only missed 2 weeks of work (office environment). My leg pain (sciatica) was relieved immediately. My recovery was uneventful. The people at VA Brain & Spine were wonderful to me. They helped me navigate all the insurance approvals & were on time for appointments - short wait times. I definitely recommend Dr. Selznick & VA Brain & Spine.

Dr. Selznick made me wait 2 hours. Yes, 2 solid hours. He was cold and short when telling me that my 2 radiologist reports were wrong. "I am the expert. I would bet my license..." He actually said he would bet his license that he was right... And 3 other doctors were wrong. He completely blew me off and tried to send me to pain management. I was refered to him by my family doctor that told me I needed surgery or a biopsy. And that I need to see him ASAP. I went to him looking for a solution but instead I left in tears. Very upsetting to be treated so awful and waste 2 hours of my time... Not to mention the 45 min one way drive and gas money. Complete waste.
I had an MRI and was told to call in as soon as the procedure was completed. I called in immediately on a Friday afternoon as I am in pain and need some relief. It is now Wednesday. I have called into the office 4 times and have left two voicemails and one email to no avail! The receptionist says that is the only way to contact the dr is by leaving a voicemail. Anyone know of a patient friendly neurosurgeon in Winchester, VA?
