Bunker Hill Pharmacy

Went in yesterday to drop off a prescription for medicine I've never used before. Came back to pick it up, and the lady behind the counter told me my insurance doesn't cover it and it would be almost $50!

They were extremely nice when I said I wouldn't take the prescription, but that I would call my doctor to get a prescription for another version that my insurance does cover. They didn't try to make me feel guilty for refusing the prescription after they went to the trouble of filling it, and the pharmacist suggested a nearly identical medication that my insurance does cover.

I read a negative review that said BHP charges too much. It's a small pharmacy that doesn't do a volume business like the big box stores and chains, so the cost for some meds may be higher, just like paint from a local hardware can be more expensive than Lowe's. It's up to you to call around for the best price.

However, this pharmacy is right on the street, with easy parking so it's fast. You don't have to walk half a mile or wait for 20 minutes in a long line, like at Costco. And the BHP pharmacist is right there to help (something that never happened during the years I filled prescriptions at Costco). It has a friendly small-town atmosphere, which I appreciate. I hope they never close!

I have been using this Pharmacy since 2010. I used to live within walking distance but moved out of Waterbury last year and continue to use them. The staff is extremely helpful and it's nice to have a local Pharmacy instead of one of the "big box stores" who don't know and could care less who you are.

If you are black or Latino beware of this racist pharmacy! I went to fill an prescription from my dermatologist today. An the nitwit clerk treated me like l was an immigrant just crossing the border. In the Spanish culture we have two names and this dumb broad was asking me 1001 questions! If some white person needed to get there methadone or pera set pills they wouldn't have given them the third degree. Also the fat so pharmacy tech wanted to charge me 300.00 dollars for something that was covered by my medical plan. Then if trying to smooth things over oh we can deliver it to you. I was like l work. Oh then we can send it to you. First of all the racist fat so prick behind the counter didn't even want to take the time to call my insurance he would have found out the error would have been resolved. I wish l could give them a negative star. I hope big business will shut them down!!

Dr.'s office called in a prescription for me. This pharmacy delivered the prescription directly to my house. Free of charge. Right when I needed it the most.

At first I was pleased by the service, my prior pharmacy seemed to always be out of stock, and bunker hill had everything. But when it came to the service very unreliable!! They'll assure a return call when dealing with situations that come up when dealing with special common requests, but fail to do so, resulting in lost time and in my case hours of time spent finding out whats going on. Very unprofessional. And also make sure to check the amount of medication they have claimed to have given you as I was not given the amount stated on the bottle and had to again waste more of my time and energy fixing there mistakes! Sorry but truth is they need new and up to date pharmacists and trained counter people, not ready to retire pharmisists and kids dealing with peoples health.
