The worst. Do not rent or buy condos associated with this company!! If the board lived in a condo with the rules they’ve created they probably wouldn’t like it either. In my opinion if you own a home and purchase it with your money there shouldn’t be a weight limit of 25lbs for your fur buddy. Some pets are considered babies in your family.

This company does nothing when illegal drug use is reported to them and the police repeatedly. Do not live in any of their managed communities if you are a law abiding person who expects the same from your neighbors.

The Select Group is the WORST management company we've had since I moved here 13 years ago. From my perspective, they despise the owners and residents. They are only obligated to the Board of Directors. I have asked many times if the manager has even read our governing documents...and I get no response. I bet is they haven't! Their accounting practices are bewildering. I was sent a demand for payment of $36 in Mar, 15. The demand was not itemized. I challenged the amount and got no reply. Then in August they sent me another demand for payment of $111.64...again not itemized. Again I challenged. This time I did got a reply by Jill Albright stating my opinion was irrelevant...pay up! Again I demanded an itemized bill and status of my account....no reply. Then in Sep I get a demand for payment for only $33.64. Again, no explanation. This is just one example of the buffoonery we deal with from this supposed "Management" company. I wish I could give it a negative star!

Opinionated. No thank you to their opinions. Based on it it appears to me that we will have to put on the next membership ballot a search for a new management company, one that is more accommodating to the majority of Mill Point homeowners. Constantly bickers with homeowners. This bickering has to stop. Where in heaven do they see themselves empowered to make stuff up as they go along? Show me where in their contract it says that once a homeowner makes the effort to get to their offices, they are authorized to prevent photography of community documents? Or is it their office-their rules? Is that why the documents are not available anywhere else but their office in VA Beach? Even on the constitution powers not delineated to the Federal government are a province of the State and the PEOPLE. I will need to start the change process now, if the company principal supports their position. Incidentally the high ratings you see here, based on names, come from company employees.

The Select Group is a poorly managed company. The rules and regulations that they have laid out, apparently are only for certain residents and do not apply to the community as a whole. Looking at the previous reviews, I see I am not the only one who has this impression. The company appears to be in it for themselves and not the community they represent. Very unprofessional board members, lack of commitment to the community, not upholding rules and regulations, etc. Their purpose, I thought, was to make sure that there was uniformity throughout the community, but that appears to be too much of a hassle for them. HOA members pay dues to live in their communities, but with this company, it appears to be a waste of funds. Would not recommend this company to anyone.

Sending bills to the previous owner. THEN hang up on my when I inquire why I am in collections. Really? Wonder why the one star rating. Never been late on one payment I was aware of in 10 years. You should be ashamed of your staff.

These people are the worst - s...

Worst company ever - tonight the security guard stated that I was being singled out. He also stated to me that they, The Select Group, told him I need to get rid of one of my dogs. They are so ignorant. My Mother has a 4lb yorkie puppy and she has her own home in Norfolk and on the occasion that she comes over to visit me, she brings her pet with her. What is she supposed to do leave her pet at home all day or for the 2-3 days she visits me. I have the allowed 2 dogs, both 4lb and 5lb yorkies. However, my two neighbors have huge dogs well over the allowed 14 inches and nothing has been said to them. They open their gates and let their pets run free without a leash and crap in the lawn and make no effort to pick up after their pets leaving unsightly and huge dog mounds behind- also in violation of our rules. They brought these dogs into the community well after the 14 inch regulation was passed - yet management and the board has not told them that their pets need to go. Yet here I am a home owner with the 2 allowed pets per the guidelines and they are both well under 14 inches and they are harassing me making snide remarks to the security guard that I need to get rid of one of my dogs. Absolutely ignorant people. They create rules that are intrusive and have consistently harassed me as well have interfered with the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of my home. I am a home owner and not a tenant of theirs. If you have a complaint similar to mine and would like to take action - please contact me. And - how much you want to bet the review from "CraigOver" is not a home owner in any community they manage - sounds more like an advertisement if you ask me.

I believe these issues have been resolved and both parties have an agreement to work together for the betterment of the association.

They are the best management company in Hampton Road from the time that you call the office, the front desk receptionist is very friendly and helpful. They have a full accounting staff that is willing and able to deal with your account questions. The management team assigned to our community is very helpful. Yes there are times that I have been placed into voice mail but have always received a return phone call. My neighbor did not receive a return phone call once and spoke with the director and within 5 minutes she had a work order in place. I have also found their new website to be very helpful

Select Group is arrogant and does little to help the condo owner who will have to resort to unreturned calls and myriad emails to seek resolution to even the most simple issues.. They do not make themselves knowledgeable about a condo association's governing docs (Bylaws and Declaration) which is essential for performing their role in advising a Board correctly..Our Board is being ill-advised. If you really want to be heard about Select Group, I suggest you do what I will do:

--Contact the Better Business Bureau in Virginia Beach or Hampton Roads area.

--Contact your Virginia State Representative about the lack of recourse for condo owners other than Court action and to ask for any intervention possible.

--Complain to the organization regulating property managers: the Virginia Common Interest Community Board. This organization is under the State of Virginia Dept of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR).

Hope this helps. Be heard.

If you're considering moving into an area managed by The Select Group, THINK TWICE! We have had nothing but problems with them for the last six months to include being humiliated at HOA meetings, being discriminated against regarding "bylaw violations", having hearings held regarding our unit without us there to represent ourselves....oh and don't ask for any documentation from them; you won't get it, even if you volunteer to pay for the copies! Whatever you do, don't call the office - they're rude and of no assistance!

If i could rate this so called...

If i could rate this so called company with a NEGATIVE 5 stars I would in a heartbeat. First of all, I've been overcharged for my water bills for the past 4 years me and my family were living there. How is a 2 bedroom 2.5 bath with 2 adults and one small child accumulate over $200 in water usage every 2 months? We assumed we were just using too much water until our neighbor shared that his water bills always stayed under $50!! When we brought this issue to the attention of the Select Group they forwarded us to the water meters company who claim that the readings have been accurate with no discrepancies. No leaking toilets, no other leaks anywhere. We were moving so we just paid it and moved on. Then we got a water bill from the select group at our new place in Missouri for $78 when we've already been out of that condo for those 2 months the bill took place! Two previous bills reached over $450! which we could not afford to pay in full. We set up a repayment plan with them, but they still continue to send harassing letters to our new residence threatening water diconnection and liens against our property. However, when I called prior to moving out they stated they could not turn our water off, but they could turn it off for late water bill payments??? This move caused so much stress on us already, being that we had to move so soon on military orders, and I have to deal with this inconsiderate, insignificant, imprudent sorry excuse for a condo association. I just dug into my savings to pay off these idiotic people so I won't have to deal with them anymore. They are the most difficult set of people to deal with and I wish them nothing but failure and a bad end to their company. Harsh maybe? No I think not, they know what's right or wrong and they do nothing to assist their customers, they only cause stress to the property owners. It is only a matter of time karma comes back to shut them down.

Bad Experience with Select Group. They are a poorly managed company. If you have an issue with this company, you will get placed on hold, until you hang up, call back, and transfered to someone else. Then they will tell you one thing, and the next day, someone else will tell you another story. If you finally speak with "someone" in chage - she will talk over the top of you and hang up telling you " Have a Nice Day". -

Property Owners BEWARE.

Do NOT select a neighborhood w...

Do NOT select a neighborhood with an HOA in Virginia Beach. I've been in my rental home in Ridgley Manor (a VERY nice development) for 20 months and I've received more than one letter per month. Not to mention several requests for "HOA Hearings" ... everything from leaving a pair of shoes on the porch for 24 hrs after it snowed... claims my dog was 'overweight' - which she is not... a letter saying I leave my garage door open too often (which is not even a RULE). They are obviously in this to make as much money as possible. I've not yet paid a fine - because all their claims are ridiculous, and they back off.. But it's no way to live!

I had a friend come into town to run the Va Beach 1/2 Marathon with me. She parked at my house at 4:45am because we had to be at the beach by 5:30am before the roads closed. I got a letter from The Select Group for "overnight parking". I fought this one too because their rules say overnight parking is not allowed - but did not say what hours are considered overnight. Is that after midnight? Do I have to tell guests they must leave after 10pm? It's been hell - and it's not the way any Professional, hard working person wants to be treated.

I had a crazy neighbor who has been throwning dog feces on my porch and one night rang our doorbell after 9pm and tried to HAND us bags of dog poop. When I posted a No Trespassing sign and sent a certified letter to the neighbor stating I will have her arrested if she does it again - the HOA threatened to begin eviction procedures because of my sign! They will not get involved in a dispute with neighbors, but I can be evicted for legally protecting myself?

Horrible. Horrible..
