Provided by SuperpagesIt had been many years since I'd played this course, so I decided to drive out with a friend. What a mistake! I've seen news stories in the paper about the parks and recreation commission being broke, but the reality of the situation struck us firsthand upon arrival. Big Bend was once a nice course, but it's deteriorated badly in recent years. I'd been told this by others, but I didn't believe it until I saw it. I knew the parks director had launched a formal investigation of the employees for their bad treatment of golfers, too, and witnessed this firsthand as well. My friend and I didn't even want to play the course after finding such deplorable conditions, so we just left. I expect that the next thing I read about Big Bend is that the county has finally closed it. That would be in the best interests of everyone, especially taxpayers. Don't waste your time or gas money to drive out to Big Bend. You'll just leave as disappointed as we did. What a terrible shame.
