        OUR mission: serve the client. Not the Corporation cogent independent advisors. Inc. ("cogent") was formed with ONE goal in mind: to deliver world class advice in an environment that truly places OUR Client's interests first. After having gained experience AT major wall street and insurance firms. The BIG problem with the financial services industry became crystal clear: TOO many conflicts of interest. These conflicts prevent financial professionals from delivering BONAFIDE advice focusing on their Client's best interests. It Didn't matter what their title was: financial advisor. Financial planner. Registered representative. Investment advisor representative. Insurance agent. ETC. What mattered more was the structure of the firm they were working for and. Of course. Their level of expertise. Whether it BE a higher payout on ONE product vs. Another. The pressure from managers to increase revenue or the general firm culture (wall street arrogance or insurance product bias). There were always very good reasons for a client to BE skeptical of an Advisor's "recommendations". Somewhere in those "recommendations" (AKA financial plans. Portfolio reviews or proposals) was an ulterior motive. And it wasn't always clear AS commissions on some products are buried in the fine print of 200 page documents. There has to BE a better WAY. In fact. There is. We call it the cogent WAY.
