Dental Care
Our furry friends need dental care too! Most of us cannot brush our pets’ teeth every day. Could you imagine what your teeth and breath would be like if we didn’t pay attention to our personal oral care?
Vaccination
Why not just wait until the baby is old enough to accept the vaccination as what happens with the rabies vaccine? Because if the antibodies from the mother declines early, this leaves the young one with a large window of vulnerability for disease. Keeping the puppy/kitten on a regular vaccine schedule during their beginning months of life is the right step towards early protection and prevention.
Nutritional Counseling
Harmful. At first your pet my appear and act normal but as the infestation worsens so will the health of your pet. The parasites live in the intestines and feed off of your pets resulting in significant blood and weight loss, weakness and malnutrition, vomiting and diarrhea. Intestinal obstructions could also result. If left untreated your pet could eventually die.
Comprehensive Examination
We take every precaution to ensure that our patients have a successful outcome. Prior to anesthesia, we perform comprehensive physical exams and recommend bloodwork to ensure that the organ systems are functioning well and that they are good surgical candidates.

Parasites Treatment and Control
Did you know 1 in 5 fecal samples tested at Companion Animal Clinic are positive for intestinal parasites? Most animals don’t even show clinical signs of being infected!
Behavioral Disorder Treatment
P represents Panleukopena. The feline distemper is highly contagious and spreads from cat to cat by direct contact. The source of infection is usually present in the feces and may be present in other body secretions. The virus primarily attacks the gastrointestinal tract, symptoms may include: depression, loss of appetite, high fever, vomiting, dehydration and lethargy. It is possible for cat owners to think their cat had been poisoned. Signs may progress to death.
Pain Management
Post-operatively, we use a combination pain control protocol to keep your pet safe, pain-free, warm and monitored during the recovery process. We also give lots of kisses and snuggles! It is our first priority to take care of the patient and to always keep you informed of their progress. Discharges are done privately by appointment to go over written discharge instructions in person and to answer any questions or concerns you may have
Vomiting Treatment
Diarrhea Treatment
After its swallowed, this parasite damages the lining of the intestine preventing the absorption of nutrients from food. Bloody, watery diarrhea may appear and dehydration may occur due to the amount of water lost.
Upper Respiratory Illness Treatment
C represents Calicivirus, another virus which attacks the upper respiratory system and will typically carry the same symptoms as the rhinotracheitis. Both viruses are spread by the wet sneezes of infected or carrier individuals. The differences between the two viruses are the herpes virus can only survive 18 hours outside of its host while the calcivirus is much tougher, surviving up to 10 days. The herpes virus is activated a week or so after stressful events (surgery, boarding, introducing another cat into the family, etc.). The individual will remain contagious for a couple of weeks afterwards. Calcivirus may shed continually for several months; not just in times of stress, and it does not appear to reoccur like herpes virus.

Parvovirus Infection Treatment
PV represents the Parvovirus. Parvo is predominately a disease found in young puppies. 80% of infected puppies will die without treatment. After exposure to infected feces, severe vomiting and diarrhea follow not too far behind. Causing extreme damage to the intestinal tract the diarrhea often turns bloody as the disease progresses rapidly; death usually follows not too far behind.

Companion Animal Clinic has been my family’s vet since I was a small child. I grew up with Dr.White, and now as an adult with my own pets, I continue to enjoy my relationship with Dr.Major and most recently with Dr.Wise. The staff is the most amazing and wonderful, down-to-Earth, caring individuals you could ask for. Everyone at CAC truly goes out of their way to be supportive, helpful, and friendly. Dr. Major has provided guidance through serious injuries and health conditions and cried along with us as we said goodbye to several of our beloved furbabies. Her approach is compassionate as well as direct. She has always provided pros and cons and suggested alternatives in every situation. Dr.Wise has been a great addition to the team. Her confident and happy demeanor makes every visit comfortable (always having treats in her pocket doesn’t hurt either). Our senior dog Bear has utilized laser therapy at CAC for several years after a surgery, new injuries, and now hip dysplasia. It has provided amazing results. He has been able to walk with less pain and an improved gait. You can see a real difference in his overall demeanor after each treatment. Recently, we moved out of Lenawee County, but CAC continues to be our vet. I’d never think about going anywhere else. They are our extended family! I trust Companion Animal Clinic, and honestly, I don’t know what I’d do without them!
Heart Disease Treatment
Anesthetic protocols are tailored to each individual patient. During the procedure, intravenous fluids are used to support the cardiac system and our trained veterinary technicians monitor the patient closely with state-of-the-art machines that measure pulse ox, blood pressure, respiratory and heart rates, ECG, and body temperature.

In today’s veterinary medicine, it is imperative to stay progressive in all aspects of our furry companion’s health and well-being. Dental disease is the most common problem we encounter on a daily basis. We are proud to now offer cutting-edge fully digital dental radiographs with all of our dental procedures. It enables us to see beyond the gums to detect pathology in the pulp and surrounding bone of every tooth. We may only notice bad breath, but our pets could be experiencing pain from anything like root abscesses or infection in the soft tissue and bone to cysts or even oral cancer that they cannot relay to us, suffering in silence. Our technicians have undergone advanced training in dental radiography positioning techniques. Our doctors have also completed specialized continuing education hands-on laboratories to allow them to perform oral surgery and tooth extraction with skillful ease and confidence.

Spaying and Neutering
Neutering the male helps control pet overpopulation. Neutering also helps prevent your pet from fighting with other males, decreases aggressiveness, and helps keep him at home. Another important reason to neuter your pet is that it lowers the chance of certain cancers later in life.

Laboratory Services
Our in-house laboratory runs serum chemistry analysis, electrolytes, complete blood counts, urinalysis, microscopic cytology, ultrasound and radiography. We also partner with a large outside laboratory to offer wellness packages and specialty tests.
X-Ray
We offer a state of the art digital radiography service to allow us to capture images from inside the body in enhanced detail for more accuracy as part of our comprehensive diagnostic profile. The safety and comfort of our patients is just as important as the quality of diagnostic images that are produced. We take great strides to minimize stress on the animal and time during the process.
