Dado Remodeling

He was to paint a great room with cathedral ceilings, dining room, stairs, hallway upstairs, and a bonus room. He originally said the job would take 4 -5 days. We have a lot of molding so he did that and the ceiling first. Those were acceptable, though there were quite a few drips that I am still coming across. The bonus room was originally painted with murals by an artist . This required some serious sanding prior to painting. On the third day, he said that he would be done the next day and that I could pay him. I did. The next day, when I came home from work, I discovered that the bonus room was NOT adequately sanded and I could see and feel the paint underneath. I called him to tell him that the room needed some more work. He would be there the next day. He came and informed me that the walls were never going to be smooth. I disagreed telling him that I had sanded a mural wall down in another room and painted over it. He came over and sanded it and said he would be back the next day. He did not come. When I texted him to ask if he was coming, the response was "no". I asked if he was coming the next day. He said, "yes". He texted the next morning saying that his van was giving him trouble and that he would be there later. He never showed. That was March 18th. He finally texted me on March 26th to ask if he could come back the following day. I told him that "No. We finished the job ourselves. We did not hear him from you in over a week. We are very upset." He never responded. He started the job on March 5th. I had ordered carpet and needed the job done before the installation. He used my Dyson vacuum to vacuum up the dust which is terrible for the motor and my trash bags. He left the trash. When he sprayed the ceiling in the kitchen, he got paint all over the top of the wall. He was not painting the kitchen. I told him that I still had to make some decisions about painting it. Nonetheless, I can not believe that he thought that was ok to leave it like that.
