Meet our Providers:
Benjamin Hsu, M.D.
Dr. Hsu obtained his medical degree from the Stanford University School of Medicine. He then completed a residency in internal medicine at the Stanford University Medical Center. He went on to the UCLA Medical Center where he completed a second residency in dermatology. He is board certified in both dermatology (American Board of Dermatology) and internal medicine (American Board of Internal Medicine).
Dr. Hsu has been practicing in Spokane since 1996. He is currently on the University of Washington clinical faculty and has been teaching medical students and physicians in the Spokane Internal Medicine Residency program.
Dr. Hsu's interests include treatment of skin cancers, general dermatology, and cutaneous manifestations of internal diseases. He was selected as one of the 2009-2010 Best Doctors in America and 2010 Best Doctors in Spokane.
Mara Geffken, PA-C
Mara received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Master of Science in Nutrition, both at the University of Washington. After working as a dietitian, she went to the University of Washington MEDEX Physician Assistant Program and became a certified PA in 2003. She has been practicing at Northwest Dermatology since 2005.
Jolie Ewart, ARNP, MSN
Jolie received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in psychology at the California Lutheran University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education at Eastern Washington University, and a Master of Nursing - Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) degree at the Washington State University College of Nursing. She was a family nurse practitioner in the Spokane community for twelve years before joining Northwest Dermatology.

Dr. Daniel Baird is thrilled to return home to practice medicine in his hometown, Spokane. After graduating from Mead High School, Dr. Baird received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chinese from Brigham Young University. He then obtained his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Baird’s interest in skin cancer and Mohs Surgery guided him to complete a residency in Dermatology at Texas Tech University where he was trained in surgical, cosmetic and general dermatology. His favorite hobbies include exploring Spokane with his wife and children, skiing, and trying to keep up with his younger brothers.
Skin cancer is on the rise and increasing faster than other cancers. We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma, the three most common skin cancers.
