The Meadows Foundation oversees seven noncontiguous historic properties in the Somerset section of Franklin Township in Somerset County. The properties are listed in the state and national historic registry. They date from 1722 to 1892, covering the colonial, revolutionary, civil war era, age of industrialization, Victorian and Edwardian periods. This group is all volunteer, and is a great place to offer cash donations, volunteer, study American and Dutch heritage, trace ancestry of the Van Wickle, Van Liew, Suydam, Hageman, Wyckoff and Garrettson family trees. Most recently, with the addition of Tulipwood, the Stephen Guion Williams family, and Architect J. August Lienau, son of Detlef Lienau are key families in its history. The Meadows Foundation honor early American and Dutch history and heritage through the structures, programs, and special events.
