Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District offers educational instruction to students in grades kindergarten through 12. It serves students in the cities of Santa Monica and Malibu in California. The school district governs various elementary, middle and high schools that include Franklin Elementary, Juan Cabrillo Elementary, John Adams Middle, Malibu High and Olympic High School. It also offers preschool programs and school-age child care programs. The district s school nurses work with parents, administrators, teachers, counselors and individual students to assist families and staff with a variety of health concerns, such as crisis intervention, hearing screening, student health counseling and child abuse reporting. Its parent-teacher association, comprising more than 8,000 members, runs volunteer programs for the classrooms, holds special events that build community, and improve communication through newsletters and informational meetings. The district s student and family support services department provides services that include enrollment and permits, emergency preparation and school safety, health services and special education.
