Founded more than 90 years ago, The Rowan County Health Department strives to improve the health of the residents of Rowan County, N.C. by identifying public health needs, providing community programs and client services, promoting a safe and clean environment and developing public health policies. In addition to providing inspection services and ratings of area restaurants and other food service sites, the department also offers a number of specialized care coordination programs. The maternity care coordination program helps pregnant women and their families find the care and resources they need to have healthy babies. The child service coordination program assists families with children birth to five years of age who have special needs regarding their health, growth or development. The family care coordination program is the integration of the department s maternity care coordination and child service coordination programs into a system of support for at risk families. The Rowan County Health Department has its headquarters in Salisbury, N.C.
