        The Crime Prevention Section, managed by the Rowlett Police Department, offers various crime awareness programs to schools, day care centers, businesses, and other neighborhood and community groups. It provides burglary prevention, vacation proofing and sexual assault prevention programs. Located in Rowlett, Texas, the Crime Prevention Section also offers safety tips for children. Its educational classes help in dealing with new threats of terrorism. The Rowlett Police Department has more than 110 professional sworn police officers and civilians who protect the lives and properties of over 54,000 people. Established in 1971, the department is structured into patrol, traffic and criminal investigation units.
