        Our Mission: We believe that God has a plan for every child entrusted to our school. To fulfill that plan God has placed in every child the gifts and skills that will be needed to fulfill his purpose for their life. Our Montessori philosophy mission is to help every child discover those gifts and skills that God has placed within them. It is our desire at Lighthouse Montessori Christian Center to partner with parents in providing their children with a distinctively biblical and academically excellent educational foundation that will equip students for academic and spiritual success in life. Why Montessori? Montessori education is based on the theories and practices of a talented physician and educator, Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952), who revolutionized European educational philosophy. She encouraged giving children the freedom to explore a variety of challenging materials and concepts as soon as they were capable of understanding. Dr. Montessori recognized that children are born with absorbent minds and the spontaneous ability to absorb knowledge from their environment. Montessori believed that the first six years of life were the most important for the development of the human potential. We feel that these philosophies still hold true today. Out Montessori environment encourages the children to explore. In their classrooms, they discover a world of peace, beauty, consistency, and learning. Lighthouse Montessori Christian Center works with parents in partnership to insure that all the children blossom developmentally.         Preschool Subject Areas - Play is child's work! At Lighthouse Montessori Christian Center, education is provided through a wide variety of playtime and educational activities. Our curriculum is specially designed to stimulate and develop young minds. Christian Beliefs - Time is set aside for a lesson from the bible daily teaching the word of God and a Christ like character. Language - Children will learn and develop language skills by pre-reading exercises, beginning sounds using sandpaper letters, objects and later, in an abstract way, using letters with picture cards, vocabulary enrichment activities, writing, and phonic reading. Math - Children will be introduced to numbers through the use of various mathematical activities including word problems, 100 Board, golden Beads, will learn basic addition and subtraction. Science/Geography - Children will study the earth, continents, oceans, land forms, plants and animals. Practical Life - Developed to build the children order, concentration, organization, fine motor skills. All these skills help children become independent human beings. Snack - Is a time for the children to enjoy a healthy snack and learn the importance of good manners, service, sharing, and communion. Line Time - Time for group lessons, learning activities such as Christian studies, calendar, shared reading, writing, movement and music. Sensorial - In this area, the child learns to appreciate and discriminate his/her environment by the development of all senses using grading and matching, geometric cabinet, sound cylinders and color tablets. Art - Develops and supports the children's creativity through arts and crafts, cutting and gluing. Writing - Formation of letters, numbers, name writing, words, sentences.
