Baby Back Blues

born and raised in the south, I am skeptical when it comes to trying bbq and the like. I've lived here for a year and a half and I have to say that I was highly impressed. the pulled pork is awesome. the brisket... awesome. the sauces? of course, awesome!! one of a few places that can back up tooting their own horn. you'll be licking your fingers at the end of your meal making plans for your next visit. guaranteed.

The pulled pork sandwich is the best, and if you like spicy, try the hot sauce. They're located in the corner of a little strip mall, and it's certainly not location that's kept them in business. It's real smoked flavor!

When I first moved to Plainfield some ten years ago, I visited the Baby Back Blues store in the Lily Cache Plaza,about twice a month because they had a good meal at a reasonable price. The ribs were tender , juicy, flavorful and the meat just fell off the bone.

Some time back, the owners decided to launch a second store on Jefferson Street in Joliet. That was their downfall. The Lily Cache store was being run by teenagers every time I went in and the food got progressively worse so I dropped them off my list.

On Saturday, September 22, I decided to give them one more try. It was a total disappointment. The meat was dry and tough and it had no BBQ flavor. It tasted as tough it had been soaked in syrup and then deep-fried.

If they ever go back to their original recipe I hope someone will let me know because I really like their ribs at one time.
