Dental x-rays can now be taken using an advanced dental imaging system known as CDR (computed dental radiography). This sensor produces an image directly onto a chairside computer monitor. This larger image helps the patient understand the doctor’s explanations and enables the doctor to optimize and archive the image to be sent to your dentist. An important advantage to this new technology is that it dramatically reduces the amount of radiation and the chairside time, as it only takes seconds to visualize an image. In addition, this new technology is friendly to the environment since no chemicals are needed for developing the image.

Apicoectomy
Endodontic Surgery known as Apicoectomy starts with an incision in the gum tissue to expose the damaged tooth and/or bone. The damaged portion of bone or root is removed and the surrounding areas are cleaned. Sometimes a root-end filling is placed at the end of the root to prevent re-infection. The gum is sutured back in place. The bone will heal naturally over the next few months. We will closely monitor you and your tooth during this time.

Dr. Claire Anderson is originally from a small town in Mississippi. She became interested in dentistry after undergoing jaw surgery to correct her smile at 17. She spent her summers during high school and college learning more about the field by cleaning surgical instruments and shadowing her oral surgeon. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Birmingham-Southern College then headed west to Arizona where she earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health.

After graduation, she reported for active duty to Fort Campbell, Kentucky to complete a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency training program. She then served as the Brigade Dental Surgeon for 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia for two years. She completed two NATO training operations with her unit in Germany during this time. She completed her endodontic residency training and Masters in Oral Biology at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Dr. Anderson achieved the rank of Major and served as the Officer in Charge and chief endodontist of Allen Dental Clinic at Fort Sill in Oklahoma for three years before moving back to sunny Arizona. She is currently pursuing board certification in Endodontics.
