A Dental sealant is a thin, plastic coating painted on the chewing surfaces of teeth -- usually the back teeth (the premolars and molars) -- to prevent tooth decay. The sealant quickly bonds into the depressions and grooves of the teeth, forming a protective shield over the enamel of each tooth.

Fillings
Although studies indicate that there are no measurable health risks to patients who have silver fillings, we do know that mercury is a toxic material when we are exposed at high, unsafe levels. For instance, we have been warned to limit the consumption of certain types of fish that carry high levels of mercury in them. However, with respect to amalgam fillings, the ADA maintains that when the mercury combines with the other components of the filling, it becomes an inactive substance that is safe.

Root Canal Treatment
A root canal procedure becomes necessary when infection or inflammation develops in the pulp tissue of the tooth. Pulp tissue consists of blood vessels, connective tissue and nerve cells — which explains why a problem here may cause you to feel intense pain. In time, the pain may go away... at least temporarily. Without treatment, however, the infection won’t. It can lead to a dental abscess, and may even contribute to systemic problems in other parts of the body.

Gum disease may have a serious negative impact on your oral health if left untreated. Fortunately, however, gum disease is completely treatable and may be prevented with good dental habits and oral care. At our practice, we have a licensed periodontist on staff to help patients who are suffering from periodontal disease. Each patient is different and we tailor our gum disease treatment to meet each patient’s individual needs and to provide optimal results. In its early stages, gum disease may be treated with non-surgical treatments like scaling and root planing, or at-home periodontal trays. If the disease has progressed past the early stages, periodontal surgery or laser gum surgery may be required.

Tooth Extractions
Wisdom tooth extraction is an in-office procedure performed by a dentist or an oral surgeon. It's quite possible to have the treatment done with only a local anesthetic to keep you from experiencing any pain. If multiple teeth are being extracted at one time, however, general anesthetic may be administered. When you are appropriately anesthetized, the tooth itself will be gently removed. When extraction is complete, you may need to have the site sutured (stitched) to aid healing. After the procedure is over, you will rest for a short time before going home. Recovery generally lasts only a few days. During this time, you should rest to encourage healing and take any pain medication as prescribed.
Bone Grafting
For dental implants to be successful, the jawbone must have enough bone to support them. Tooth loss often leads to more loss of bone over time. If the bone under your gum is not tall enough, not wide enough or both, you will need a procedure to add bone to your jaw before implants can be placed. Bone augmentation also known as bone grafting) is a term that describes a variety of procedures used to "build" bone so that dental implants can be placed. These procedures typically involve grafting (adding) bone or bonelike materials to the jaw. The graft can be your own bone or be processed bone (off the shelf) obtained from a cadaver. After grafting, you have to wait several months for the grafted material to fuse with the existing bone. "Off–the-shelf" grafted materials either cause surrounding bone to grow into the graft or cause cells around the graft to change into bone. A graft from your own bone transplants bone cells or a block of bone that fuses to the jaw.

Zoom is a bleaching process widely used around the world to lighten discoloration of enamel and dentin which may result from drinking coffee, tea, cola and red wine; or from smoking or simply aging. The Zoom in-office tooth whitening procedure uses the Zoom Advanced Power Chair-side Lamp – said to accelerate the bleaching process – to activate the 25 percent hydrogen peroxide whitening. As the hydrogen peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin to bleach the stained substances, leaving the structure of the tooth unchanged.
