Founded in 1949, the Fire Department is a part of the village of Park Forest, Ill. The department offers a range of fire, emergency medical and public assistance services. It has a fire prevention bureau that is responsible for business inspection, plan review, juvenile fire-setter counseling, and fire and arson investigation services. The Fire Department employs more than 40 individuals. The department also provides public education that includes classes and lectures for youths on several topics, including fire safety, fire extinguisher use and disaster preparedness. It maintains a fleet of engines, ambulances, fire safety trailers, and purpose and administrative vehicles. The Fire Department has the Park Forest Firefighters Association, which is affiliated with the International Association of Firefighters and the Associated Firefighters of Illinois.
