Cool Shift Transmission & Auto Service

I took my vehicle (2004 Ford Explorer) to Cool Shift Transmission on 9-27-11, I met with Fred and i explained to him that i was having a problem with the transmission. I told him the O/D light keeps flashing and the transmission slips when put it on drive. He plugged a computer to the vehicle ( got a reading code) and he took a test drive. FRED assured me the problem was minor and he'd get it fix in 3 days. He said he'll do the job for $850 and he asked me a deposit of $500 in cash or a check to buy parts and i did give him a check. He told me the vehicle would be ready on 10/3/11. I went to the shop on that day and it wasnt done. He said he'd get it done on 10/5/11. I picked up my vehicle on 10/5/11 and i gave him $350 as the remaining balance. I took the car home and was giving me the same problem after 5 min driving. I called FRED then told him about it and he asked me to bring the car back which i did. I kept calling to find out when the car would be ready and no answer. I kept going to the shop and he was giving me a run around. I finally got the car back on 10-14-11 and while driving the car home the same problem started. I realized they put a piece of electrical tape on the O/D light. I took the car back and asked him for a refund and he refused to do so. I called my lawyer on 10-18-11 and he advised me to go take the car from FRED and have a diagnose done to a reputable transmission shop.

I wouldnt refer anyone to his place because FRED is a SCAM ARTIST

I took my van down to FRED, and he told me it would be a $1000 for a completly rebuilt transmission. I went to pick my van up and his employes had it out for a joy ride. When they came back about 35mins later, my van was completly a mess. They broke my exhaust engine light was on and they had grease top to bottom inside and out!! My overdrive doesnt work and I had it down to him 2 more times with the same problems. I pick it up the third time and he put 72miles on it and used a half of tank of gas. I am currently getting a lawyer to sue him for all of the damages!!

Fred replaced my timing belt, shocks, strutts and completed a full tune-up on my Hundya Sana Fe for 1/3 of the total cost that was quoted to me for the same work on my car from Tire Kingdom and other known auto repair shops. Fred allowed me to purchase the parts that I needed for car on his account with a local store where he trades (that gave me the benefit of purchasing the needed parts at his cost) so I paid Fred for labor only.



Fred also called me when he finished the repairs on my car and had his son take the time to drive my car from his shop in Orlando to pick me up at my home in Lake County (40 minutes away).



I also need to mention that although I purchased a new water pump for my car. Fred told me that I did not need to replace the water pump thereby saving me $89.00.



I found Fred to be honest, professional and easy to work with. I do admitt that I was not alway able contact him by phone. Sometimes it took several attempts and he did take a day later to complete the repairs then what was promised (he did say that he got busy and was short handed).



I will continue to use Fred to work on my car as needed and would recommed Fred to my family and freinds. Overall I was well please with Fred at Cool Shift.

Never, Never, Never, go to this place.



My car had transmission problems. I gave him my car to fix on 08/21/10 with a $400 deposit. Fred told me that it would be fixed by next week. When I contacted him the following week he said that it was not ready he wqs wating for a part. Two weeks later my car was still not fixed. I finally told him to put my car the way he found it and gice me back my money. He said that he would not give me the full amount I gave him. He said that just give me one more week and I will get it fixed. So a week passes by and still car is not repaired. I finally called the cops on him> the cops said that they could not force him to give me my car back. All I could do was file a law suit and that is where I am at now.

From the heart, i do not recommend this place. I am not hating, its just i got screwed with my car. Two thumbs down.

Great Service! Cool Shift Transmission and Auto Repair put a new transmission in my SUV in 2 days. When I picked up my vehicle the cost was less than I was quoted as they said it was not as damaged as they thought. Once they were able to look at it, some of the parts did not need to be changed. I got my car back in 2 days and it cost less than I expected! I highly recommend this repair shop. They gave me a 2 year warranty too!
