Slow service - Bad Food

I go out to eat for two things, great food and quality service. Kona delivers on neither.

The Kona Kiddie Klub

I really have to agree with the previous poster who said watch out for the 22 year olds. My only disagreement to that statement is that I think Xavier was overstating the average age of the crowd here. Our last several experiences have been terrible. Teenagers and young want-a-bees have overtaken this location. And it is not just the customers, I would say that it encompasses the entire staff. All very young and inexperienced. I also agree that the food quality here really leaves a lot to be desired. Don't fall for the 1/2 price happy hour gimmick. Cheap frozen food grossly marked up on the menu and then presented as being discounted. At 1/2 the menu price this stuff is still just bad food. As for the sushi, not even close. There are two far better choices for sushi in west O. Hiro down on Maple street and Prestige just around the corner by Pacific street.

What?

The food is good, however dont bother with the "happy hour" bar appetizers. They were cold, small and unedible. People should know better than to order sliders and pizza at a sushi place, but come on.

The rolls are all pretty basic, nothing too imaginative here. But for yuppy pedestrian "sushi" this place wins. At night we saw plenty of younger 21-28 year olds who thought it was cosmo to be seen at the Kona, even though the most they would spend is $10 for a couple beers and then slam it on a debit card... laughable really.

The management is top notch, the bartenders have no personality. They seemed to be too occupied with texting and chatting to each other about who is doing whom, and what the plans were for after work (which I heard everything).

So all in all, its not bad. Just watch out of the 22 year olds who think that wearing izod from 4 seasons ago and putting two beers on a debit card makes them cosmo.
