Massage Envy - Olathe

Went in for a relaxing massage and I couldn't enjoy myself at all. My massage therapist didn't have any idea what she was doing. At least I felt she didn't. I don't think I will return to this location

When I got the valpak coupon in the mail, I was extremely skeptical. $39 for a massage? What's the catch? My curiousity finally overwhelmed me and I called to schedule an appointment. I live in Foxfield Village so 119th and Blackbob was just a hop, skip and a jump away. I was greeted at the door and made to feel comfortable and "at home" right away. My massage was amazing. The therapist was attentive and actually listened when I said I wanted deep tissue. Afterwards, the sales girls told me about their membership and I signed up. Come to find out, there are Massage Envy locations everywhere! I was very impressed with the whole concept from beginning to end. Now I look forward to relaxing and taking time for myself every month.

I know someone that uses the Olathe Message Envy and has been pleased. She receives monthly massages, so their "plan" worked well for her.



I went in to get a deep tissue massage and was reasonably pleased with my massage. However, I picked up the subtle "advertisements" during the massage, leading up to the push to join the 13-month program.



During the presentation, I mentioned wanting to talk to my husband before making any sort of recurring financial obligation. The friend that uses Massage Envy told me that the sales staff is very laid back and just a simple "not sure I'm interested" would be enough.



I can only imagine that their previous "not pushy" techniques weren't working well, because the sales pitch continued. The rep was quick to tell me "you can cancel within three days", trying to make it "easy" to get me to sign on the dotted line.



This morning I called to cancel and was told that I would have to come in to do so. That was a little piece of information they failed to mention last night. Irritated? Extremely. Will I ever recommend them? No. Not even to people that DO get regular massages.



I am certain that the reason I have to come in is so that they can extol the virtues of the plan and hope I'll reconsider. They are wrong.



I ask this: what good does a tension-releaving massage do if the sales presentation just makes you tense again?



A small note on the massage itself. It was worth the $39 introductory rate (sans the sales pitch). However, their regular rate (without membership) is $65 and you can find a better massage for that price.
