Villa Rivera

While it's not 100% authentic, this place has great food at a reasonable price! Their service is pretty good 90% of the time, but we occasionally get a less-than-energetic server. They do a great job for couples, but even do very well for larger parties without notice. I held a few work meetings here with about 15 people and the food was great all around! The Queso Fundido is my favorite appetizer even though it's a little greasy, but that's to be expected considering the dish. My only complaint is that take-out orders tend to be cold and/or wet from condensation when you order anything with a corn tortilla shell (but this is pretty typical for Mexican take-out). So, if you order take out from here, stick to something without hard shells and you should be very happy! Overall, the major positives far outweigh the (very minor) detriments. It's a great restaurant, very cozy, great food, and the staff is generally very welcoming. (Oh yeah, stay away from the "trece leche cake" unless you've had it before and know you like it. I know it's supposed to be some sort of Mexican national dessert or something, but to a plain old white boy like me, it tasted like month old milk mixed with sand and sugar. The other desserts are awesome though!)
