Located in Norman, Okla., Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History is a more than 195,000-square-foot facility that was established in 1899. It is located at the University of Oklahoma campus and has various galleries that feature a variety of artifacts in more than 50,000 square feet of exhibit space. Additionally, the museum provides various facilities, including the Hall of Ancient Life, caf , research and collection department, discovery room, Pleistocene plaza, educational classrooms, auditorium and store. The museum s research and collection department has various artifacts and collections related to ethnology, archaeology, herpetology, ichthyology, invertebrate and vertebrate paleontology, ornithology, and micropaleontology and paleobotany. Its store provides gifts and books on natural history, handcrafted jewelry, Native American art and pottery, blankets, museum T-shirts, posters and souvenirs, and a children s section with interactive educational toys, books, activities and dinosaur toys. The museums vertebrate paleontology collection includes more than 56,000 cataloged specimens. It also offers educational programs for children, adults and families.
