General Info

Texas Department of Criminal Justice provides services against various criminal acts throughout the state. It operates a wide range of divisions, including offender grievance program, ombudsman, risk management, operational review and force office departments, and access to courts. Its risk management division provides Occupational Safety and Health Accident and injury investigations, emergency management planning, disaster recovery, liability loss control, risk management definitions, statistics, and publications. The department also operates a rehabilitation and re-entry programs division that offers sex offender, substance abuse treatment and youthful offender programs, services related to offenders, and online course content. The department is operated by a nine-member committee appointed by the governor, and the committee is responsible for the confinement, supervision, rehabilitation, and reintegration of the state s convicted felons. It additionally offers victim services, such as crime victim clearinghouse, automated victim notification system, prison tours, advisory, and training and education. It is located in Navasota, Texas.
