Southwest Towing

This was my first experience picking up an impounded vehicle as an authorized representative. I was sent out of town with almost no tools to load a vehicle with no keys which wasn't parked with the front wheels straight when it was towed. That's beside the point though. I arrived too late to get a parking spot at the hotel which was booked for me, so I decided I'd sleep in the Wal Mart parking lot. On the way, I considered calling the yard, which is listed as a twenty four hour operation. I was then profusely apologetic having interrupted the office manager from her sleep at one in the morning. I now know that should I predict an arrival after hours, she would gladly leave my paperwork outside for a driver to handle if I call and inform them in advance.

She was the same person, I never did get her name, who patiently explained to me over the phone the document which I required to pick up the vehicle earlier in the day. She was very accommodating to my terrible hearing loss, too.

However, she was understandably upset so late at night and I felt terrible for having awaken her, so we agreed I would get some rest and meet in the morning at ten. I had decided that I would bring her a nice cup of coffee in the morning when she called me back and said she was opening the office to draw up my ticket.

I had no real desire to sleep in a parking lot, and I had been ready a few minutes prior, so I rushed to the yard. She was very nice for someone who had been unexpectedly brought out of bed and across town for daytime business, and had my ticket ready in a few minutes.

She pointed me to the area the vehicle was in and said a driver would be there to assist me soon. With the small crescent, pipe wrench, and claw hammer I found in the truck I was driving, I was able to disconnect the steering and transmission linkage, and had the front wheels straightened out when the driver arrived.

Shawn was a lifesaver. I would have been there for an hour or more pulling the vehicle up on the trailer with the little chain hoist I brought. Not only did he put it on the trailer with his wrecker, but he unlocked it and helped us dig around looking for the key. He also gave us pretty good directions for a scenic route out away from the city, and I was able to get some sleep later beside a quite highway in the middle of nowhere. The way wasn't direct, but it didn't go anywhere near San Antonio either.

I asked to have it loaded backwards, which didn't look ideal, but it went where I pointed it unloading, and didn't sway once on the way home. I'd like to thank them again for their patience, accommodation, and for a good experience in general. I promise I'll call in if there's a next time and I expect to be late.

I have used these guys a few times and they are great! They get there quickly and are the cheapest around. Very nice too.
