Dedicated Dog Training

We found James on line under "DOG TRAINING". My wife, Roberta and I were desperate. We purchase our Scottish Terrier 8 months earlier. She was our 3rd Scottie. The first two had lived long lives and we enjoyed them both. Mollie was different. She had a mind of her own and would not come in from the yard when called and if she escaped out the front door would take off and only come back when we begged with treats. James came over and clearly explained his various programs and the costs. We signed up and after the first lesson, the results were amazing. We refer to Mollie's ealier behavior as Pre-James and her new behavior as "What a wonderful dog". She has become the kind of dog anyone would love. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend James to anyone who wants to have a well behaved dog.

I found James on line not knowing anything about him, he came to our house met our Rottweiler of 3 years named Dante' we liked him and took a chance. Dante's bad habits; jumped on people when coming in the house (he's very strong and sometimes knocked people down), biting peoples buts, if they didn't want to play with him, chewing slippers and socks. James trained Dante off leash for 2 weeks while we were on vacation for one, He was very accommodating picked him up and dropped him off. Dante' came home last Friday night a different dog. James did tell us to reinforce practice with him which my husband and I try as much as possible, sometimes difficult since we both work all day.

We would definetly recommend him to anyone who has a crazy Rottweiler.

Let me just start out by saying that James is caring, honest, sincere, ethical, gentle, patient, knowledgeable, down to earth, humorous, customer sensitive and he is truly dedicated to his profession.



My wife and I have a beautiful six month old Shiba Inu. Shiba’s are known to be big dogs in a little body, they are full of energy, very smart, but stubborn and they are known to bolt, these are all traits that can be a receipt for disaster if not harnessed at an early age.



James is from my neighborhood and my neighbors and I would see him walking these perfectly behaved dogs off lead and he became known as the “dog trainer”. Because of the aforementioned traits of the Shiba Inu my wife and I wanted to ensure that he was trained correctly and based upon what we observed James doing on a daily basis I spoke to James and there was an instant connection, there was no sales pitch, just one dog lover talking to another.



We contracted with James and he came to our home five times, during those visits he not only trained our dog, but more importantly he trained my wife and me. After each training lesson he would follow-up with an email summarizing what was taught and he’d give us homework for the week. It was also very reassuring to know that James was and still is available to answer any questions associated with all aspects of dog training.



One day when James and I were practicing in front of my house my neighbor observed how the training had progressed and how well behaved my dog was and he commented that James was a “magician”. James gave my wife and I the tools and the knowledge needed in order to make our dog a well behaved and valued member of the family. This transformation isn’t magic; it takes practice, dedication, time, some more practice and an excellent dog trainer.



As you have probably guessed by now my wife and I would highly recommend James for your dog training needs.

We bought our first puppy, Onyx (a black lab) in November of 2009 and within a week were in despair. Onyx, through no fault of his, obviously looked upon us as part of his "pack" and played with us as such. It did not help that we had him quarantined per our vet's recommendation till he had all his shots. Needless to say Onyx was restless in the confines of our apartment and expressed his displeasure through barking, peeing all over and nipping us and our clothes to shreds (I have gaping holes in my favorite sweater as proof). I am sure he regarded this as playing but it was quite unnerving for us, not knowing what we had gotten ourselves into



I called James (located him through Google) and was immediately impressed by the manner in which he explained the nature of his training. James did not sound rushed when explaining his methods and definitely did not push us into a decision. Both boarding and on-site training were appealing options. We chose the latter because it gave us the ability to learn along with Onyx and practice with him through the course of the week, through the homework assignments James left us. Immediately after his first session the change in Onyx's behavior was like night and day.



We worked with James over the course of 6 weeks teaching Onyx five basic commands. The transformation in my dog was surreal. It was like a switch had gone of in his head. Thanks to James we now have a family member we can enjoy with for many many years to come. Most important is once you sign up with James and Dedicated Dog Training he does not walk away once your 5 weeks are up. He encourages you to reach him with any questions or concerns you may have even before the first session and after the training is complete.



I would definitely recommend James and Dedicated Dog Training to anyone looking for an obedience training for their dogs.

I first found Dedicated Dog Training through browsing the internet and I was a bit skeptical because you cannot know someone's training ability based on a website. I was very interested when he kept referring to "Off-Leash" training because all of the other trainers I looked into only focused on basic obedience that was done on-leash. My dog spends most of its time off lead and in preserves so having a dog always on-leash is not an option for me. I would just like to say that after five sessions with James coming to my home (and making a rather long drive out to me) my dog was almost perfectly trained off-lead. The dog that was crazy with squirrels, cats, deer and just about anything else was now heeling by my side on my street and coming while being called in any situation (including deer darting out right across from her). I was so proud that my hyper shepherd was turning her energy into focusing on me instead of hunting for the local squirrels. So, don't be afraid to use Dedicated Dog Training... James will help you answer any questions you have through the course of the five weeks and after your session is even finished you can still call whenever you want! My belgian shepherd will forever be safer in the community and a better dog around neighbors and friends. I am so happy that I went with my gut to use Dedicated Dog Training and I know future clients will be too!

I learned of Dedicated Dog Training over the internet. I was a little reluctant at first to invest in the training but seeing the improvement and development of my new puppy it was worth every penny.James is a very special person as well as a wonderful trainer. His patience and clear method of instruction made it very easy for the dog and I to learn the commands. I would highly recommend him to anyone that I know or meet that could benefit from his expertise. My puppy Chase is a completely different dog . He is so obedient and we are enjoying him so much more than we thought would be possible.

With James what you see is what you get. There is no BS. I chose dedicated Dog Training after meeting with James and discussing my concerns. I am retired NYPD and believe I am a good judge of character. I was not wrong. James had reasonable rates, was on time for all 6 appointments and was overwhemmingly knowledgable. I was impressed with his skill in dog handeling and in the overall training. Most importantly he simply is a nice teacher of dog habits. I looked forward to our lessons each week and my dog responded the same way towards him. I highly recommend James and the service he provided.

James at dedicated dog training has helped us feel empowered and confident with our dog while helping us understand our precious puppy. He is passionate about his work and really projects his love for the animals. He understands the owners needs and goals as well as the pet's needs and goals. First let me begin by saying how can you rate someone by just lookin at his website. I dont care what you read on his site, you have no idea of what his training consists of unreal. I have been using james and his service since the spring and trust me i have used 3 other trainers who were terrible were only in it for the money after they finished their lessons they could care less about my dogs, in fact one of them caused major surgery in one of my dogs so dont say good trainers come to the house cause this one cost my daughter over 5,000 in medical expenses just goes to show how much u know. I have 2 great danes who were totally out of control couldnt take them on walks together would drag me and my daughter down the street, no control in the house chewed up everything wouldnt listen to anyone. Since their training i can go anywhere with them their behavior is excellent. And just to let u know they go through obedience trainin on leash before off leash training and James comes to your home for this, after ya weekely lesson James calls you to check up on the training every week, he is truley into his training and cares more then ever about each of his clients (dogs) and you can call james at anytime and he will answer any questions you have. Off leash training is great if they r trained right by the trainer and of course the owner its excellent the training isnt all the trainer if the owner doesnt continue the training when the trainer leaves the house. Trust me james is excellent taught me and my daughter alot and between all 3 of us we worked very hard with the dogs and still do. its all about training training training and from this u establish the greatest relationship with your dog and he becomes a very happy dog. if u are someone whos looking for a trainer ,maybe before u put someone else down, u should call james if ya have any questions about his dog training education i know he will be more then happy to answer any questions you may have, or maybe you are just another trainer who doesnt like competition well if thats it get over it stop being a HATER and find another hobby i would rhighly recommend james to anyone. have a good day and remember tis the season to b jolly :)

I looked through the entire website and found a few disturbing things. First of all I would have a problem sending my dog to a facility for two weeks to be trained by people I didn't know. What type of training are they doing. How can you be sure that they are not forcing your dog into "good" behavior. Real trainers come to your home and train you and your dog simultaneously. Remember, the dog lives with you, not "James". And secondly, the off leash training is a dangerous thing. In most places you cannot have your dog off leash, unless you are in a doggie park - so what is the benefit of off leash training. And if your dog has been properly obedience trained then off leash is just the end result.

Don;t be fooled by this "impressive" website. And last but not least, what are James' credentials. Is he certified through the State and the Board of Education or did James read books and watch video's and now calls himself a dog trainer.

I hired James after I failed miserably with my new dog. I am a single mom with two teenagers, 4 cats, a Redbone Coonhound and then added the most stubborn animal on the planet - a Shiba Inu. She is beautiful but very intense. James took her in and brought her back to me with a pattern that I could work with. Life is hectic and I still have moments but if I follow the what James taught me, Sienna is a doll. Wether you have a new pup and want to start off on the right track, or have a dog you are at your wits end with, I would recommend James to help you!!!

I hired James when I first got my puppy. He never looked @ his clock and spent additional time if he thought it was neccessary on any given lesson. I am finished with his training and I feel I have a great puppy do to his great training. I still use his fundermentals for good behavior of my dog. I do recommend James if any one asks me for a trainer.

I have a two year old papillon named Howie. He spent his first 2 months in the suburbs of DC and then moved to NYC with me to live in Manhattan. He had a fear aggression problem (biting people when he thought they were attacking him or me). He was also afraid of strangers and other dogs and didn't really enjoy going to the dog park. I found several trainers and even had one come to my apartment to have an one hour session for $150. The trainer gave me a few tips, but nothing really worth the $150. I then continued to do research and found Dedicated Dog Training and James came to my apartment to meet with Howie. He gave me some good tips for no fee - it was free assessment. And then we figured out that the best way to go about this was to do the board-and-train program. In three weeks, he was able to train Howie off the leash and Howie is not as afraid of strangers. He will go up to other dogs and enjoys the dog park. My roommates think he's another dog. I can't thank James enough. Dedicated Dog Training helped me so much and for such a reasonable price. James really cares about training dogs and the well being of their health and safety, which was why I was so willing to work with him. He works with you through the entire process and even afterwards. He always willing to take your calls and of course emails are available.

My experience with Dedicated Dog Training has definately been a positive one. James is a very caring and professional dog trainer. My dog took to him right away. Things I didn't think possible were taught to my dog Mugsie. I would highly recommend him to all dog owners.

I had a behaivoral issue with my dog, aggression when on leash to people and dogs, James quickly determined the causes and was able to give me and my dog exercises to do to reduce and eventually eliminate the problem. I would and have recommended James to neighbors and co-workers. He will answer questions even if you choose not to hire him and truly enjoys his work. Some trainers seem to be doing this just for the money, not James. He is honest and sincere in his love of dogs and of training them.

My Scarlet was a very unruly, hyper, high energy puppy who was running the show, nipping my kids, NOT listening and dragging me around the block on walks..... very stressful. Thanks to Dedicated Dog Training, she is now calm when I need her to be, she listens to commands, walks at my side and can even be off leash.... now a pleasure. This was accomplished quickly and professionally..... James trained my puppy effectively and taught me how to continue the training on my own, and I know he's only a phone call or an email away if I have any questions...... I highly recommend Dedicated Dog Training!!

hi my name is toni i am the owner of 2 great danes living in west babylon ny. i have been using dedicated dog training for about 5 or 6 months now and to be very honest i have nothing but good things to say about james the owner and the service. my dogs were totally out of control before i started with the training . its amazing how far we have gotten with James help and training he truly fits the name he is very dedicated to to what he does. he has taught us alot and with practice and of course james we are very proud of out dogs. i have used a few other dog trainers which we were not happy with to put it nicely and no one has put into their training anything near what james does. He really puts everything into his training and loves what he does. i could go on and on about james and his training hes outstanding honest very dedicated to his work.
