BB&T Bank of Murray, KY is an opportunistic bank, which takes every opportunity to maximize fee revenue at the cost of its customers. If a deposit is made to an account, it is posted to the account after checks and debits are posted. This results in overdraft charges for each posted check that overdraws the account being assessed before the deposit is posted. The overdraft fees literally offset a deposit and often times leave the account overdrawn. One example is that an account with a $20 balance had a $300 cashiers check deposited on Saturday and credited to the account on Monday night. Six items totaling $23.60 were posted to the account Monday night and $210 in overdraft charges assessed, because the six debits were posted first before the deposit that was made on Saturday. When the bank was approached regarding the overdraft practice, Ms. Ragsdale stated the fee process is done in compliance with "Bank" policy - she then offered a goodwill gesture to refund one $35 OD fee!
