The Herbst appliance or H.T. is used to stimulate the growth of the lower jaw and correct an overbite. The piston-like arms are attached to temporary stainless steel crowns that are “glued” to the first molars. At each visit, your progress is checked and your bite is measured. An extension may be added to the arms as more growth is needed. Once the desired bite has been achieved, we will hold the lower jaw in its new position until a total of one year has been reached with the H.T.

I don't even know where to begin complimenting!! Dr. Baum and his staff are incredible. From initial consultation to final product, one of the most impressive orthodontists I have encountered to date. The office staff is kind and thoughtful and really appear to enjoy their jobs. The environment is friendly, comfortable and welcoming to children and adults alike from video games, fooz ball tables and prizes to coffee and magazines. My daughter's complicated case required referred oral surgery and braces, and resulted in a GORGEOUS smile. We OF COURSE returned for my teenage son to garner a similar smiling result which is coming along beautifully and now with our third blessed with less than aligned teeth, we would not even think of taking her anywhere else as this place is the hands down THE BEST!
