Taste of Little India

Just went today, food was great - not so much the attitude of the "server /busboy /self-proclaimed manager " a job all rolled into one, since I witnessed him clear tables, wait on tables and ran the register as well. VERY disappointed in his judging a book by its cover, being that I came in dressed in t-shirt, shorts and flip flops. Unlike the rest of the clientele who wore dresses & business attire. There was no sign out side stating any dress code, also it was lunch time. I purchased a Masala with shrimp meal which was excellent, only his lack of service attention was the pitfall of the meal. There weren't many customers in at the time, he kept forgetting what I ordered, late in bringing additional Naan for the Masala, brought a carryout container after I'd asked for him to bring additional Naan since I was going to finish it there, because I'd walked from Kia dealership getting my car serviced. When it came to paying I asked him if they shared their tips with the cooks since the food was excellent. He abruptly said no, I inturn told him then I'd rather not leave a tip, that I normally do since I've been a waitress many times in the past & we always shared our tips since that was a common courtesy to do. That I usually leave a 20% tip automatically. But this time with his lack of ability and not allowing me to thank the cook - I wouldn't. He then started screaming at me to leave the building, I asked to speak with the manager - get this, he said HE WAS THE MANAGER !!! Well, I'm telling everyone I meet to avoid this place, the food may be fantastic, but if a tall Caucasian balding 40ish looking man is behind the counter or on the floor stay away - unless you're dressed up to the teeth, otherwise out you'll go, because he judges people on how they look on the outside, but I hold judgment until I see the inside, and boy did he show it!

I really do not get the bad reviews. The family treats regular customers like family. To say such mean horrible things is childish to say the least.

I have eaten here multiple times with no issue. it looks like some one has a personal vendetta against this restaurant due to some one saying to eat at 7-11. lmao. what a joke. this place is one of best places to eat Indian food In merced. this is a classy place too for merced. if your wanting to eat out and are in a date I say eat here.

I am from punjab (north east India), my first week in this country my business partner Paul took me to this Indian eatery. There was an usightly Indian woman with a cast around her defunct arm, taking my order, preparing my order, and serving me. She was practically a slave, we don't even work like this in India. The old hag actually cussed at us in Punjabi when I asked for a soda refill (I dont look like a Punjab wala, due to my fair skin). I replied back and she said "Get out of my store." I was like you old hag, you couldn't own this place in 100 years. Paul and I were very dissapointed. By the way Paul and I both got moderate to severe diarrhea (with all the flavors of India rushing throught your anuuse tract at 100mph). I recommend you go to the 7-11 down the street they have good hot dogs, my cousin Habib(Pakistan wala) makes them fresh every morning.

If you���re a totally cultural person you'll love this place. The food it���s delicious with all the flavors straight from India. All my friend including myself loved this place. And mouse not so much the place is spic and span! Don���t let the previous reviews fool you!

food was great but the rat running around the restaurant was a bit of a distraction!

I made the mistake of thinking that this was decent restaurant. I made a horrible mistake. I recently ate here and came down with a very severe stomach ache. After going to the hospital I learned that this was a result of food poisoning. I had to have my stomach pumped. So take your chances. I don't recommend this restaurant.
