Roy again returned to the federal court for an interim clerkship with Chief District Judge G. Patrick Murphy in 2004, with concentration on the criminal docket. He accepted a defense attorney position with Reed, Armstrong in Edwardsville, Illinois, resulting in significant growth of their workers compensation practice.
