Al's Barbeque

Tl;dr Made a reservation for last weekend of Groupon validity. Showed up on time and they were closed. Was refused the promotional value afterwards even though it was their fault they missed my original reservation. Currently in the process of getting my money back from Groupon.



I bought a Groupon for a dinner for two and had the worst Groupon experience ever. It was extremely difficult to get in contact with the owner to make a reservation and the availability was extremely low. I finally made a reservation for the weekend before the Groupon promotional value expired. When I showed up, a sign on the door said "Sorry we missed you. We are out on a catering job." Not only were they still supposed to be open at that time, they completely left a called reservation hanging. I called a week later to try to reschedule, but the owner said he could not give me the promotional value even though it was their fault they weren't there for the original reservation. He promptly told me to just call Groupon to get my money back because he didn't want any problems.



I know nothing about the food here and never will because I refuse to pay money to businesses that operate in this unprofessional manner. Take my advice and do not go here especially if it is with using a Groupon.

I went to this place alone for dinner one Friday evening. There were no seats when I arrived and I waited 20 minutes for the next table. I sat down and the server brought me a menu and water. A few minutes later a white couple comes in and again there are no seats available. The owner of this place comes over to me and tells me I must get up because the couple had reservations. I asked him if he was serious and he said yes, they called ahead.

Al was on the Marietta Square for the Whole Hog Happenin' Sept 30 2012.... He was using a professional mobile BBQ Pit and was turning out some of the beat BBQ ever tasted! First class operation, great food, and a super nice guy !

It was delicious! I work on the Square and I've driven by Al's every week for the past few weeks and tonight I decided I had to try it out. We ordered and shared the BBQ pork chop and the pork ribs. For sides we had green beans, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes. Everything was very tasty, the sauce was probably one of my favorite sauces in the Marietta/Kennesaw area. It was wonderful! The ribs were very tender and not too fatty and the pork chop was a nice cut with lots of flavor. The mac and cheese actually tasted like cheese-- some of these BBQ places it just tastes like salt. The gravy was excellent on my mashed potatoes (which could've been hotter, but they were still fantastic).



Al knows what he is doing- so stop by and fill your belly with BBQ goodness.
