Dr. Michael Ditkoff is a board certified otolaryngologist/head & neck surgeon who treats both pediatric and adult patients. He received his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical Center after completion of his education at Sophie Davis School at City University of New York. After graduation Dr. Ditkoff entered an internship in general surgery at the New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. After his internship concluded, he commenced his Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery specialty training at Tufts - New England Medical Center in Boston. Dr. Ditkoff has additional training in using lasers and has published and presented papers in the area of Otolaryngology. Publications have covered the use of the laser in middle ear reconstruction, abnormal neurological activity of the larynx, early intervention in the cleft palate child, tumors of the skull base and evaluation of swallowing. Dr. Ditkoff has also done research involving various anesthesia techniques in tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy surgeries in the pediatric population.

Dr. Ditkoff is kind, thorough, attentive, responsive and all around amazing. My daughter has ASD, she is non-verbal and sometimes has anxiety with Doctors. Dr. Ditkoff’s sweet personality puts her (and I) at ease. Surgery, sick visits and routine visits, he is the all around best.

Dr. Ditkoff is caring and professional

I had a bleed from my right ear and was concerned so I made an appt with Dr Ditkoff. He prescribed ear drops and made a second appt to check my ear. At my second appt he checked my ear and I also had a hearing test. He is kind and has a wonderful personality which helps in situations where one could be a bit anxious about what is causing the problem.

Sinusitis
A balloon sinuplasty is a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure used to treat chronic sinusitis. Sinusitis is an inflammation of the lining within the paranasal sinuses. Once inflamed, the sinus cavities become a fertile ground for viruses, bacteria, and occasionally fungi to grow, resulting in infection. If it becomes chronic there may be a structural problem in the nose or sinuses. In those cases, a balloon sinuplasty may be recommended.

In-office CT may be instrumental in the management of several clinical scenarios such as 1) the headache patient who is convinced that his or her headache is due to sinusitis. I have had brain fog, fatigue, facial pain/pressure, runny nose and nasal congestion for years. I have visited several specialists, received a brain MRI and had even tried prescription medication, all without a proper diagnoses. Doctor’s told me it was normal and to just give it time, or to work on managing anxiety. No one was able to help me. I went to Dr. Setzen and he immediately was able to pinpoint the exact problem as well as the long-term solution. He was extremely thorough and was able to explain things in a way that I could understand easily. He performed septoplasty, endoscopic sinus surgery, turbinate reduction, eustachian tube ballooning, and balloon sinuplasty a couple weeks after our initial visit. He answered all of my post-op questions whenever I called the office. His bedside manner is unmatchable.

Rhinoplasty
The night before my surgery (septoplasty, turbinate, rhinoplasty), I had a family emergency and considered postponing. I called Dr. Setzen and his warmth and concern were overwhelming. He told me not to worry and that whatever decision was best for the family was good with him. The next morning when I told him I was going to go ahead with it, he reiterated that I could cancel if it didnâ€™t feel the timing wasnâ€™t right. What doctor does that? I had the surgery, and in the weeks following, he continued to check in on my family. I can never thank him enough for his care and compassion. My surgical experience is just as impressive.
