Sex Crimes
Chester County Criminal Attorney Steve Jarmon represented a counselor at a reform school for troubled teens who was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with one of the residents. He was charged with Felony Institutional Sexual Assault. Our client maintained from the outset that the allegations were completely false. After a two day trial and after it became clear that the alleged victim could not answer his tough and thorough questions on cross examination, Steve was able to achieve a complete acquittal and our client was able to resume life with his family and reclaim his reputation.
Robbery
Attorney Steve Jarmon represented a young man in Philadelphia who was in the wrong place at the wrong time and charged with a gun point Robbery. Steve’s client was in a van with four other individuals that was pulled over for being suspects in a Robbery. The victim of the Robbery identified Steve’s client and another individual as the perpetrators. Steve argued to the jury that the victim was not credible in his identification and further argued that even if his client was at the scene of the robbery, there was no evidence that he did anything to assist in the robbery. Steve pointed out that being merely present during the commission of a crime does not make one guilty of that crime. After a five day trial, Steve was able to convince the jury to return a verdict of NOT GUILTY on all charges.
Burglary
Steve has unique experience as a criminal defense attorney because he has worked on both sides of the courtroom. Before he moved into criminal defense, Steve worked as a prosecutor for the Chester County District Attorney’s Office. He began working with the Chester County District Attorney’s Office as a Certified Legal Intern while he was in law school. In this position he prosecuted hundreds of DUI cases and other misdemeanor and felony criminal cases at the preliminary hearing level. After he graduated from law school and passed the bar exam, Steve continued to work for the Chester County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney where he successfully tried numerous misdemeanor and felony cases involving DUIs, Drug Possession and Drug Delivery, Theft, Simple and Aggravated Assault and Burglary.
Theft
Misdemeanors
The first official event in the Pennsylvania criminal justice process is the preliminary arraignment. After a person is arrested for a misdemeanor or felony they will be taken in front of a Magistrate at the local district court where they will be arraigned. Arraignment is a process where the magistrate will review your criminal history, work history and ties to the community to determine what your bail should be. Bail is an amount of money that the Magistrate believes will secure your future appearance in court if you were released from custody.
Drug Crimes
Chester County Criminal Attorney Steve Jarmon represented a college student with a clean criminal record who was arrested for having a large amount of marijuana in his dorm room. It was suspected that he possessed the marijuana with the intent to deliver it and he was charged with felony possession and faced a mandatory minimum 2 years in the state prison system. After meeting the client and reviewing the police report, it was clear that police illegally searched his room and Steve filed a motion to get the illegal evidence suppressed. After Steve made the arguments to the trial judge, the evidence was thrown out and the case was dismissed.

If you have been charged with a serious offense or felony, such as Possession with Intent to Distribute (“PWID”) or Aggravated Assault, the Magistrate may require you to actually post money to secure your release from custody. Or, in the extreme case, the Magistrate could deny bail altogether which means you would be required to remain in custody until the charges are dismissed or until your sentence has been concluded.
Murder
Attorney Steve Jarmon represented a 17 year old kid who was arrested and charged as an adult for the crime of Murder and Robbery. The allegation from the Commonwealth was that Steve’s client had agreed to commit a robbery with four of his friends and that during the robbery Steve’s client shot and killed the person that they were trying to rob. From the beginning of the trial Steve argued to the jury that there was no credible evidence that his client was present for the robbery and no evidence that he pulled the trigger. After a five day trial, Steve was able to convince the jury to return a verdict of NOT GUILTY on all charges.
Identity Theft
Homicide
After years working with the Chester County District Attorney’s Office and gaining invaluable experience from working closely with local judges and law enforcement, Steve joined a small but highly successful Chester County firm in West Chester. In this position, Steve managed the criminal defense division and was the firm’s primary criminal trial attorney. He defended many cases ranging from low-level summary offenses such as Under Age Drinking to the most serious of felony cases including Homicide and Rape.
Manslaughter
Chester County Criminal Attorney Steve Jarmon represented a young man who was was on his way to work one early morning when he crashed into the back of a family of three, tragically killing a wife and young mother. There was evidence acquired by the investigators that suggested our client may have been driving with extreme recklessness and he was charged with Felony Homicide by Vehicle. By demonstrating our client to be very remorseful and presenting him in the best light possible, Steve was able to negotiate a plea deal that resulted in the client receiving a reduced charge of misdemeanor involuntary manslaughter.
