Read for yourself how you will be treated if you do business with this company. Believe all the other negative reviews, there is a reason why.

This review is for the 2000 HEAP Cherokee my fiance bought a few years ago from Big T. By the end of this review you will realize that it was a total hunk of crap, in which Big T did nothing to help her with during issues other than rip her off and charge her for everything and perform terrible work.

1) The transmission began to act odd and not shift into OD and would stay at high revs at highway speeds, this was unacceptable. When brought to the attention of Big T, they said it's not a good idea to service the transmission and buying an entirely new one is pretty much the only option. I asked if the, normally red, transmission fluid was okay since it was black and smelled burnt and they said yes it's fine and normal. Complete bull step 1.

2) The transmission had such high pressures from the rejection of maintenance that the main line broke at the seal to the transmission and left us stranded until we got a tow to Big T's. After the line and line plastic connector were replaced, they just sent her on her way with some new fluid and same symptoms, but not after charging her for the tow as well.

3) The engine finally blows up on the way to Big T from a horrible lack of maintenance from the previous owner, and Big T decides that a whole new engine is needed for replacement instead of rebuilding. They tore the engine down to the lower block to see all issues and a rebuild would have cost less and been better, but my fiance did not know any better and needed it fixed so reluctantly agreed.

3.1) The engine was completed and I accompanied my fiance to drive the Jeep home. I looked in the engine bay and everything looked promising and the idle was nice. It only took me 100 feet from driving out of the lot to realize something was terribly wrong... Massive swaying back and forth with loud clanking noises proved that my suspicion for the company was only enhanced. The engine was NOT mounted to the chassis and allowed to sway about freely, forcing stress on all other components. We returned with the jeep and they put the bolts back in.

3.2) After normal driving conditions the warrantied engine blew the harmonic balancer, which snapped the main pulley, which powers all power options like steering and cooling. The engine achieved a massively high temperature and warped the head, blowing the gasket which is a known issue with the 4.0L I6 if it gets too hot. I called Big T with what happened and they said okay, we will send you a truck. An hour later as I waited in a perfectly good (different) auto shop parkinglot where an employee was nice enough to come out and confirm what I believe had happened, the Big T sent tow truck arrived. The jeep was brought back and the belt and harmonic were replaced, at FULL CHARGE and then they had the nerve to CHARGE FOR THE TOW AGAIN, that's another $200+! This is on top of the $100's in other parts and $1000's in engine work... This is absolutely unacceptable. From this point on I would not allow her to take the Jeep to BIG T and I performed the work on my own if I was able to.

3.3) Another amazing "breakthrough" was likely because of the bolts not being attached to the engine, which transferred turning stress to the bolts on the transmission (or maybe even they completely ignored or forgot to put them back in)... On a highway trip back from Utah the transmission completely blew up due to the input seal breaking from the cause of stress. The transmission was serviced at "Grumpy Dutchmans" in Georgetown, CO by a group of great fellas. When removing the transmission they found that only 3... THREE bolts were holding the transmission to the engine, and causing the stress on the input shaft and blowing the seal. ABSOLUTELY INFURIATING. We paid Grumpy's and were on our way with an even more sour taste in our mouths.

Selling a vehicle with a taped over check engine should be illegal as well, we never knew when something was wrong.

When Roy Choate sold us a car,...

When Roy Choate sold us a car, two major repairs were included in the price. That was 69 days ago. We have been told on a daily basis that 'it will be fixed tomorrow'. He has broken appointments again and again and lied to us so many times. Once he even threatened not to make the repairs at all! He seems to think he is doing us a favor. Mr. Choate's employer is involved as well. He agreed to send the car to the Kia dealers and that he would pay for it himself. (Turns out Roy cannot make the repairs himself!)

These people seem to feel it is okay to take advantage of seniors and the disabled and that they are under no obligation to keep their word. They are actually commiting a crime called fraudulent misrepresentation and it is punishable by prison or fines or both.

There are local lawyers who will take this case pro bono.

A verbal contract can be just as binding as a written one in CO.

In 24 hours I will begin leaving reviews on Angies, Craigs, Facebook, Twitter, etc. I will begin preparing my legal case. I will contact over 50 consumer and watchdog groups, including Consumer Fraud, Consumer Theft, The Federal Trade Commision, the Attorney General, Fighting Financial Explotation of People with Disabilities, AARP, NAMI, and many, many more. There are many sites devoted to car repair scams and many sites devoted to seniors and the disabled. I will post these reviews and continue to contact consumer groups until the repairs THAT WE HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR! are complete.

It is time to stop lying to us, Roy Choate, time to be a man and live up to your word.
