Overall

Our experience with this company was terrible. He came out to do the estimate promptly and took full payment on the spot. Apparently he had an awful bike accident but his people couldn't tell us that until 2 weeks after the install was supposed to have happened. Regardless, when one of his friends finally got out to do the work, another 3 weeks later, he didn't even have all of the necessary windows we needed replaced. Another week and a half goes by to get that window replaced and it CRACKS within 3 weeks (which was supposed to be tempered glass and obvious was not). When we called up there to have him come out and fix the work he saw the ~2 month old bill of sale and said the house could have shifted and wouldn't replace the window for us unless we paid for it again. Needless to say, we are not having him fix the window.

If I could take away his 1 star rating and give him 0 I would. Don't use this guy unless you want to be ran around and have job halfway done.

This man is not to be trusted ...

This man is not to be trusted with your money or time. Hal Osteen, the owner, provides terrible customer service. I had windows replaced by his company and after I realized that one was defective, I have been waiting three months to get it replaced. Every time I have called I hear the excuse "I hurt my back" "My son is in the hospital", etc. I saw another reviewer mention that he said his dad died and later said his dad was in the hospital. Which is it? Today I decided to call another window company to get the window fixed because I'm tired of waiting...and tired of waiting on someone who has no character. Please save yourself the exasperation.

I am a general contractor. I'...

I am a general contractor. I've been working with a lot of my clients in the Lantana area after the recent hail storm. I saw "HAL" on a job several houses down from mine and decided to give him a job or two. He was very pleasant at first and after measuring the job stated he needed a check immediately to order the windows. I've been in business since 98' and I broke my golden rule,,,,, never pay until the job is complete. This is the way I conduct business with my clients and this is how I conduct business with my subs. For some reason, I broke the golden rule. (WARNING-- do not make the same mistake!!! ) I wrote the check for windows on one job and screens on another job. The total was for $738.00. I was told that the jobs would be installed within 7 to 10 days. I got the same stories as the other poster. One excuse after another. I know the excuses and I know his kind. It's been 40 days since I paid. He promised me Monday that he would install the screens and windows. He delivered the (14) screens to the job but told me he couldn't install them because the homeowner wasn't there. WOW, seriously? He couldn't walk around the house and put the screens on? He never showed up at the other client's house to install the windows. I called him and he promised that the windows would be installed on Tuesday. Once again, he stood up my client. He made another excuse about having to be at church. Once, again he promised me Wednesday, rain or shine the windows would be in. NOPE! He never called and never returned my calls. Tonight I went to my client's house and installed the screens myself. Yes, the ones I paid "Hal" to install. 12 out of the 14 fit. Two are wrong. HE WILL NOT BE INSTALLING ANY WINDOWS IN MY OTHER CLIENT'S HOUSE! At this point, Hal will need to refund me the $400 or I will be seeing him in small claims court. I am warning all readers to stay away from this compulsive liar and crook!!!

Terrible experience. Like the...

Terrible experience. Like the other poster, We called Osteen's after a hail storm - probably the same storm, given the time line. Hal was out here in a flash, getting measurements and more importantly, my check, promising installation in a week. A month later I finally got my windows, but it took plenty of phone calls and excuses from Hal, including that his father had died.

A month or so after installation, a piece of trim that wasn't properly installed fell off. Here we go again - plenty of phone calls and excuses, including that his father was bleeding profusely and was on his way to the ER, (The dead one!) and that his father was in the the hospital with congestive heart failure! (Last I checked, people with congestive heart failure are not bleeding profusely. He needs to pick a story and stick with it, especially when the guy is suppose to be dead already.) Hal also attends a LOT of funerals, and has a LOT of personal health issues that keep him from taking care of his customers. Every excuse was one of personal woe, I would have preferred he had just been honest and tell me he just wasn't coming out. Blatant lies are not cool.

Finally came out here to fix the trim, rather his helper did, while he sat on the tailgate of his truck and watched his dog poop in my yard. The repair took about ten seconds to complete.

So if you want aggravation, unprofessionalism, poor service, and a bunch of BS excuses, this is your guy. I gave this business the lowest rating possible, but if I could take the stars into the negatives, I would. Run away, run away, run away from this terrible business.

I contacted O'Steen Glass and ...

I contacted O'Steen Glass and mirror after a big hail storm and I experienced one issue after another and I cannot recommend this company.

The lady and gentleman were nice when they assesed my window damage and took my money. No surprise!!! I was quoted 1 week for delivery and installation of the window and replacement screen.

The window was not delivered in the timeframe quoted. When I called to ask about the status the gentleman was very rude and stated he had too many orders to keep track of mine. Customer Service = F

When the window finally arrived the installation was done by what appeared to be thrid party contractors. The window was not installed properly and there is excessive caulking. Installation = F

My wife called to complain and the gentleman indicated his night crew installed the window, it was probably not done correctly and he would personally come by and fix the window. I am still waiting.

They also forgot to deliver the window screen and when they finally delivered the screen they did not install it. The window is located on the second floor and I don't have a ladder to reach that high.

Post Installation Issue Handling = F

Buyer beware when using O'Steen Glass.
