RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL

I have to agree with what many have said about this company. I wanted them to be a property manager for my property and besides the fact that they couldn't find a tenant, they were the most rude disrespectful people you can imagine. Debbie who I suggest you never get to manage a property is probably the most pathetic case for a property manager you can imagine. The person who answers the phone, Trisha, should probably be answering phones at the County lockup. She will constantly hang the phone up in your face. Avoid this company at all cost. You would be better off renting your property by yourself than having to deal with a headache from this unprofessional bunch.

In February of 2015 we listed out house with Exit Realty, the realtor was Irma Chavez-May (5 star). We had our first showing almost immediately by Steinborn Realty. They buyers came back a second time and made an offer. We countered and the buyers accepted our counter.

During the entire sale process we were harassed with requests from the buyers Steinborn realtor thru our realtor to allow the buyers belongings onto our property before closing. Our answer was always no, not until after closing and it never changed. On Friday March 27th our buyers house was to close first and then our house. The paperwork for the buyers house did not arrive for their closing until Friday afternoon at 4:45PM. So the buyers closed on their house that afternoon but not our house until Monday. And again, they asked if they could move into our house, and again we said no not until after closing on Monday.

On Saturday March 28th our realtor went to our house to retrieve the lock box. She found that buyers realtor had given the buyers the key to the our house and allowed them to move into the house three days before closing; this is after we had repeatedly said no. Our realtor confronted the buyers telling them they could not take possession of the house. I Called the broker at Steinborn Realty and he did not do me the curtesy of a return call. He later sent an email to our realtor saying all communication should be thru the proper channels. What are the proper channels when a realtor breaks the law, and destroys all faith an trust that a realtor can be trusted with our house key?

This was our eleventh home sale and we have never been so violated. I wanted to file a complaint with the New Mexico State Realtor Board but the process got so complicated I gave up.

These people are criminals. Taking peoples money and failing to go by the law. I have filed a BBB complaint. Please if anyone else has been ripped off by these people lets stand up and hold them accountable. If I could put a negative star rating I would. Debbie informed me I should take them to court which I will.

HORRIBLE, UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES. Save yourselves from the nightmare experience we had and avoid doing any business with them. Our personal experience as longstanding clients of Steinborn & Associates from 2012 until 2015 has caused us a great deal of unhappiness and personal distress. The owners John and Amy Hummer, and their property clients James and Theresa Patton, owners of 10095 San Marcos Court have taken unfair advantage of us and harmed our reputation to put thousands of our hard earned dollars in their own pockets. When we protested their actions, Mr. Hummer immediately threatened us with legal action; when apologizing for his company’s poor customer service, Mr. Hummer also declared with pride that even with such poor customer service they were better than any other property manager in town. So… what need do they have for higher ethical standards, we surmised?

THE WORST

These people are effing terrible! So rude to myself and my wife. Kept us in the dark after we paid them a deposit and signed a lease. I've never been so disrespected in my life. I'm an active military member and was trying to see if they would give me the keys to the rented home one night early so I could be there early the next day when our lease started because I work early in the morning. They refused. They continually cut us off in the middle of talking. NEVER RENT FROM HERE! THEY DESERVE ZERO STARS

Do not rent from this company! Steinborn recently began managing a property that I have been living in for about 2 years. Since they have taken over, my apartment complex is going to ****. The grass is overgrown and on the rare occasion they send someone to take care of the lawn they do a horrible job. I have water leaking into the walls from my upstairs bathroom. They sent out 2 different companies to inspect the damage, this was a span of about a month. Finally, someone came to tear all of the tile out of my bathroom and I haven't seen or heard from anyone since. It has been about 2 weeks since I have been able to use the shower in my home. When I call Steinborn a rude woman will transfer me to a voicemail, where I will leave a message and nobody will call me back. But somehow I am still expected to pay my rent in full and on time every month. This is by far the worst landlord I have ever dealt with in my history of renting.

Overall

While it took us awhile to sell our home due to its price range, we were very happy with the service we received from our broker, who we used for the purchase of two homes and the selling of one. She is a very busy and well known broker and she was able to juggle all of her other contracts while staying involved with ours. I would recommend Steinborn to anyone who is looking to buy or sell a home. We think they are the best in town!

NMowner, I could not agree with you more! We just recently terminated our agreement with them before a tenant moved in. They do not communicate at all with you, and it's true, they hide behind their contract which is very vague, yet incredibly detailed on their part to protect their own company. I went with them only because I assumed they have tons of resources to advertise your home. They do act like it's their home, they forget you own the home and you HIRED them to do a job, for you.

Their property managers are crooks. You have literally no say in the way your property is managed once you sign on with them. You tell them you want to be involved in who rents the property and they hide behind their agreement and tell you that's not how they do business. You tell them you want to know about issues pertaining to your property and they hide behind their agreement claiming thats not how they do business. They do not advocate for your property at all and act as if they are the owners. The two women who manage properties are rude and ignore the most simple e-mails.

My family and I relocated from Florida to Las Cruces. During our trips out here to find a place to live we came across Steinborn reality. We found a house and placed a deposit and first months rent. We let Jenny Henley and Derek Gram that we would return in about a month to move in the house and gave them a list of items that needed to be corrected before we moved in. When we returned nothing was done there was vomit on the baseboards and carpet. There was a farmers blow on the door and the mirror in one room and they had repair men in the house for the 6months we leased the property. They are very dishonest and are only after one thing that is your money. The other properties we viewed were the same way unkept and the houses are nasty also the weeds were knee high. So I would personally stay away from them and find a more honest real estate agent to trust. One last thing they will keep your deposit so watch out!
