Tidewater Transit is a family-owned company that moves dry and liquid materials in bulk. As a bulk transportation provider, the company serves the chemical industry by transporting materials that can't go by rail. Its tanker fleet includes more than 650 trailers capable of moving everything from sulfuric acid to plastic pellets. Tidewater Transit hauls a variety of materials directly to manufacturing facilities that make everything from lipstick to 2 liter plastic bottles. Its tanks are designed to move materials safely. Company terminals are located close to customer plant sites to provide dedicated service. Tidewater Transit has 300-plus tractors and operates multiple terminals in eight states. Its customers include more than 30 Fortune 500 companies. It was founded in 1949 and has its headquarters in Kinston, N.C. Tidewater Transit has a branch in Kingsport, Tenn.
