Warts

Systemic therapy is typically used for individuals with moderate to severe psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. The most common systemic medicines for treating psoriasis are Acitretin (Soriatane), Cyclosporine, and Methotrexate.
Cryotherapy
Treating warts can be a challenging endeavor. Some warts require repeated, consistent treatment before any impact is made, while others disappear on their own just a few months after appearing. Treatment is available in the form of topical agents, surgery, phototherapy, injections, systemic agents; and alternative therapies such, tea tree oil, and adhesiotherapy (application of duct tape to suffocate the wart). The most common way to remove warts in the office is cryotherapy (freezing).

The most common form is called androgenic alopecia or male, female pattern baldness. Hormones called androgens present in both males and females that are responsible for regulating hair growth change such as androgen overproduction. Because of this, the hair growth cycle begins to weaken, and the hair follicle shrinks producing finer strands until eventually, no new hair grows in its place. Genetics plays a role, and this is an inherited condition. Other factors include stress, medications, vitamin deficiencies, hormonal changes, thyroid disease, and anemia. Even some hairstyles like tightly pulled back braids or cornrows can contribute.

Ultrasound
Ultherapy is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment of the skin to stimulate collagen and create a lifting effect. The first and only treatment available that uses focus ultrasound to treat skin laxity. Ultherapy is FDA approved for lifting of the brow, chin and neck. Skin laxity can be seen as early as your 30’s and one of the first noticeable signs of aging. As our collagen production slows down, skin gets noticeable thinner and the underlying structure begin to change creating jowls or a double chin and visible laxity in the neck. These changes can be frustrating making you look older than you are or feel.
Chemotherapy
For more invasive and advanced melanoma studies of the lymph glands may need to be performed prior to the removal of the melanoma surgically and may be followed by chemotherapy.
Radiation Therapy
Surgical approaches to skin cancer treatment include curettage, surgical excision, Mohs micrographic surgery, radiation therapy, or cryotherapy. For small tumors, your plastic surgeon may surgically remove the tumor, along with some healthy tissue around it, using curettage, surgical excision or cryotherapy. For more advanced cancer, or for recurring cancer, Mohs micrographic surgery may be selected so that all of the tissue removed has been methodically examined under microscope, ensuring that no cancer remains. Radiation is generally reserved for the most advanced cancer.

Mohs Surgery
Mohs surgery may be used when treating individuals that have recurring skin cancers, or cancers that are at high risk for recurrence. Mohs might also be conducted if the cancer is found in an area where function and cosmetic appearance are important, particular areas of the face such as the lips, ears, eyelids, and nose.

Laser Resurfacing
TotalFX is a laser treatment that treats sun damage, wrinkles, scars and more. This laser literally transforms your skin by smoothing out deep wrinkles old scars and textural issues. This is a non-surgical treatment but considered an ablative laser, meaning it removes very thin layers of skin. The procedure combines the benefits of ActiveFX and DeepFX together treating the upper and lower layers of skin. FX means this is a fractional laser, treating only a “fraction” of the skin’s surface while leaving some of the skin intact. The benefit is the healthy, untouched skin helps to speed the healing of the treated areas. This procedure is also referred to as laser resurfacing and fractional Co2 laser resurfacing.
Gynecomastia
Characteristics of male breasts are enlargement of the chest area or under the areola, resembling a “breast” that is resistant to diet and exercise or does not fit with otherwise normal anatomy. Both overweight and normal weight individuals can be afflicted. The chest area might feel rubbery or lumpy to the touch due to enlarged glandular tissue and for some increased pain and sensitivity in the area. True gynecomastia involves swelling of glandular tissue and fat not just fat in the chest area.
Moles
If you elect to remove a mole for cosmetic reasons, the procedure is similar. Mole removals can either be done by shave or surgical excision. The location and depth of the mole will determine how it’s removed and discussed in your appointment. Cosmetic removal is normally not covered by insurance because it’s an elective procedure. Skin Cancer
Actinic Keratosis, also known as solar keratosis, is the most common type of pre-cancer condition, affecting approximately 58 million Americans. Actinic Keratoses are precancerous skin cells. If not properly treated, they can develop into squamous cell carcinoma, a potentially fatal form of skin cancer.
Dermatology
Hair loss is not just physical but takes an emotional toll on both men and women. Eczema
In the most general sense, eczema can indicate any one of a number of skin conditions that cause the skin to become swollen and itchy. Often when a person says they have eczema, they are referring to atopic dermatitis, a chronic condition that is the most common type of eczema. Atopic dermatitis causes the skin to swell, crack, and ‘weep’ clear fluid. Other types of eczema include hand, nummular, and seborrheic dermatitis.
Fungus
Nail fungus can be an embarrassing, and sometimes painful condition to bear. Scientifically known as onychomycosis, nail fungus occurs when fungi infect one or more of your nails. Symptoms of nail fungus range from the crumbling and changing in color of the nail, to foul odor and separation of the nail from the nail bed. Once the infection has damaged and misshapen the nail, the area can become quite painful.
Lesions
Treatment involves rubbing the cream onto lesions once or twice a day for 2-4 weeks. Reddening, swelling, and crusting may occur but they are temporary. This treatment has produced cure rates up to 93 percent with rarely any scarring.
Chemical Peels
A Chemical peel is a non-invasive procedure that uses a solution applied to the skin to improve a variety of imperfections and sun damage. The solution usually has lower pH, causing the to skin react and exfoliate. This process stimulates new fresh skin cells, creating smoother skin with less discoloration. Depending on the type of peel and how deep the solution penetrates, fine lines, acne, and acne scars will also improve.
