Overall

Cindy is very professional and knowledgeable. She provides a wide variety of services including skin care; cosmetics, and eye lash extensions. Renewal is very clean and strict hygiene is apparent. I have visited regularly for facials; eye brow waxing; eye lash extension; skin care and cosmetic products.

Chair Massage
What a fun night! Once the first person came, it was steady the rest of the night. Unfortunately, no photos of guests were captured, but at least there's a shot of Britni giving a chair massage. I have to thank my husband, Mel, and assistant, Rachel, for helping attend to all the guests. Alyce Winters gets all the credit for the beautiful holiday decor (her services and crafts are for sale!)

Haircut and Styling

Hair Color
- semi-permanent color to give the lashes a mascara appearance- especially great for those with light colored lashes or who rub their eyes a lot. I recommend tinting the lashes black or dark brown and color the brows to match your hair color. "Intensive" is the brow/lash tint of choice at Renewal, which uses vegetable-based pigment and does not contain coal-tar.

Hair Removal Services

Facial Waxing
On February 5 & 17, 2014, I hosted ladies from Delta Zeta at Renewal for facial waxing and hand treatments. I blocked off several hours just for them, and they were able to socialize and snack while they waited for their service. Too bad I forgot to take some photos during the event.
Body Waxing
Waxing
For waxing services, the hair should be at least 1/4 inch long. Do not exfoliate the area to be waxed within 2 days of your appointment. Users of prescription topical Retinol products must suspend use 2 weeks prior, 3 days if over-the-counter Retinol products are used. Plan to protect waxed areas from UV rays with a sunscreen with a SPF 30 or higher.

Facial Treatment
Facials and body treatments are private services. If you have children who need supervision, you should schedule your appointment when someone else can care for your child.

It is not necessary or suggested that you wash or shave your face prior to coming for a facial service. For a makeup application, however, it will save time if you do cleanse and moisturize prior to arriving.

The owner, Cindy Shaw, is a licensed esthetician and has been working in the beauty industry since 1995 when she became an Independent Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. Cindy earned a BS in Animal Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1992 and completed the esthetics program at The Salon Professional Academy in Iowa City in 2010. She has the distinction of being certified with the "Dermalogica Expert Status" by the International Dermal Institute after completing nearly 100 hours of postgraduate education. Cindy values continuing her education and regularly takes classes on various esthetic and business topics such as skin conditions, eyelash services, makeup trends, and marketing. Lash Savvy is the company that trained and certified Cindy to apply individual eyelash extensions in 2015. In 2018, Cindy became certified to use the bt-micro device by BioTherapeutics. In 2019, Cindy earned the Glo Expert Studio Beauty Certification and Jane Iredale Level One Brand Certification.
