        Welcome to FUMC First United Methodist Church of Iowa City is a loving, welcoming church of mixed ages and backgrounds, spirit and energy. First United Methodist Church is literally the "first church" of Iowa City, having been established in 1839. Located in downtown Iowa City, at the corner of Jefferson and Dubuque Streets, First UMC is an historic landmark, to the community and to the campus of the University of Iowa. As Iowa City's first church, we honor our Methodist heritage by striving to be a loving and growing church that glorifies God through worship, study, fellowship, and service. We hope you will join us in this journey and look forward to welcoming you into the First Church faith family. 8:00 a.m. Cornerstone Service Traditional hymns, biblically-focused preaching, and traditional liturgies and prayers 9:15 a.m. Sanctuary Service Casual service with contemporary music and praise hymns led by the Sanctuary Band 10:30 a.m. Koinonia Service Modern litanies, songs, and prayers while remaining true to our United Methodist worship heritage
