The staff is exceptionally compassionate and professional, and they have separate entrances for cats and dogs. I've taken my cats to other veterinary practices in the area and had good results but the facilities and staff at Countryside are superior and I trust them completely with my cats' care.

Our wellness evaluations allow us to thoroughly examine your pet's teeth, eyes, ears, heart, lymph nodes, skin and musculoskeletal system. Panels are basically blood tests which help us to complete a thorough evaluation of your pet. Our physical examination tells us a lot, but it doesn't indicate how the internal organs are functioning. By completing blood tests we are able to check for diabetes, thyroid disease, kidney disease, liver disease, pancreatic and adrenal problems, infections, anemia and a host of other conditions. Detected early, we may be able to reverse some of these conditions or at least slow down how fast they progress.

Like people, many pets may develop cancer at some point in their lives. Some cancers can be removed through surgery alone, while others may require more extensive forms of therapy. Although we are not board certified oncologists, we do have experience administering chemotherapy to pets with lymphoma and other forms of cancer. Not all cancers will respond to chemotherapy; talk to our doctors to determine if your pet's cancer can be treated with chemotherapy.

Dr. Rolston is also a transplanted flatlander. He grew up in a small town in northwest Iowa. Dr. Rolston attended the University of Arizona in Tucson where he received his Bachelor's degree and then returned to Iowa and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 1998. After a year of practicing in the Portland, Oregon area, the lure of fly-fishing in eastern Idaho proved too strong and he and his wife Michelle moved to Idaho Falls in 1999. They have three children, Sam, Calvin, and Caroline, and spend most of their free time running from activity to activity. At work, Dr. Rolston enjoys soft tissue surgery, dermatology, internal medicine cases and acupuncture. Outside of work, you can probably find him on one of the many beautiful rivers of eastern Idaho, fly-fishing.

Laboratory Services
Any time your pet is to be put under a general anesthesia we recommend a pre-anesthetic blood screen. The blood screen checks out your pet’s liver and kidney function and helps us to determine if it is safe for your pet to undergo anesthesia, the type of anesthesia used and whether fluids would be beneficial to support the kidneys during the procedure. (NOTE: The additional cost for this test is $96.00)

Microchipping
Microchipping is a permanent pet identification method in which a small microchip, about the size of a grain of rice, is placed between the shoulder blades of your pet. It is not a tracking device. The microchip number is recorded in a nationwide database that is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. If your pet becomes lost, shelters and veterinary hospitals nationwide have scanners that read the microchip and return the animal to its rightful owner.
