NEVER TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO Franken's Auto Repair Inc 10510 MO-21!!!

Firstly, knowing what was wrong with my car, as I had already had a diagnostic done elsewhere. It needed a catalytic converter(bank 1). I called to make an appointment for a quote/repair. I was told they can't give me a quote without a diagnostic. Now, normally I would understand CYA & all. Why though, 1 week later, when my husband called for the exact same thing did they just set the appointment for what it needed?
Fast forward to the appointment... drop the car off Sunday night. Appointment for Monday car will be ready Tuesday. (only without a car for a couple days, cool) No updates all day Tuesday, hubs calls Wednesday morning they say the guy who was working on it had to leave yesterday, he's going to finish it up today. We heard nothing the rest of the day. Thursday 7/9, called them up, it's ready ($878.40 paid for the repair). I pick it up & they let me know it needs to be run through a drive cycle before they could inspect it. (This took a few days as I work from home & covid) By the time I got home I could tell something was off. (It's a 3 minute drive y'all) I told my husband, something's not right, it's running rough & I can hear rattles that weren't there before. He told me to run it through the drive cycle like they said & if it's still doing it, say something when you take it back for the inspection.
Friday 7/17, I had to pick up my mom from Fenton. On the way home we're coming to a stoplight I press on the brakes & we hear a clunk on the front passenger side wheel followed by grinding. Saturday morning my hubs takes the front wheels off... driver front - the caliper bolt was loose, passenger front - wheel lugs were not even tight & the caliper had popped off because the bolt was missing. Of course they're closed so we go get new caliper bolts & breaks hubs replaces them. He called them up Monday morning, let them know what happened they set up an inspection for 2:30 & said they would check it out when I brought it in.
I made the mistake of not setting a reminder, got busy & forgot to take it up there so I call when I remembered @ 3:30. He was understanding & rescheduled the appointment for Wednesday.

I get there today & there's 2 men inside.

#1 asks if I have the lic renewal card the dmv sends...
me-no, I don't even take that to the dmv, I look at it & throw it away.
#1-Oh well, we need your name & address (looking for paper)
#2-we ask for that because it has all your info on it, that's why they send it
me- I threw it away
#1 - hands me a scrap of paper
Me- writing my name and address
#2 - that card has a pin on it too...
me - I've never used it, I just throw it away
#2-well we still need your name & address
me - which is why I'm writing it down even though I was just here with the same vehicle so you should have it on file...
#2 - well we didn't get your name and address for that
me -
I hand #1 the slip of paper, once he's done typing I start to ask if they were going to check where the caliper popped off. Mid sentence #2 takes my keys & walks out of the office.
#1 assures "I let Dan know, he'll check it out" (Dan is #2)
As I'm waiting for my car, I'm outside on the phone & an older lady comes in. As she's walking in she trips on the step & falls in the door. I get in to help her and I see #1 had just rolled his chair to the end of the counter and was just looking at her, DIDN'T EVEN ATTEMPT TO GET UP TO HELP HER!! Even when he saw me struggling to get her up he didn't try to help.
When #2 comes back in with my inspection papers, he lays them on the counter & says nothing. I&a

I hand #1 the slip of paper, once he's done typing I start to ask if they were going to check the problem. Mid sentence #2 takes my keys & walks out of the office.
#1 assures "I let Dan know, he'll check it out" (Dan is #2) As I'm waiting for my car, I'm outside & an older lady comes in. As she's walking in she trips on the step & falls in the door. When #2 comes back puts inspect papers on the counter & says nothing. I'm looking & it states he removed the left front wheel. So I say did you check out the right front?
#2- you don't get to choose which one we take off that's up to us
Me- yes but when you're supposed to check something your shop screwed up... he cut me off
#2- well he didn't tell me, ma'am did you just come in here looking for a fight?
Me-😳😳 "are you fucking kidding me? I can't, I'm just gonna let my husband deal with car shit from now on."
To which I guess he thought that meant I was going to send my husband after him. Because he (#2) replied "go ahead get him up here" [ is this high school?] You botch an almost $900 repair job, & treat me like I'm the problem? I got home & got to looking...#2 is the friggin OWNER Dan Franken!?!? This is how you treat your customers?

I have been taking my vehicle here for several years now & have been very satisfied. The only reason for 4 stars is because sometimes it takes a little longer than I was expecting. They are always so busy, and for their quality of work & knowledge I am not surprised. I have definitely been fooled by dealerships & other auto repair shops, with up sales & unnecessary things. Dan always tells me if I can wait on something or if it needs to be done right away. No pressure like the dealership. I also have to say they are no more expensive than any other quality shop. You get what you pay for, so if you are used to Bob down the street doing it on the side in his driveway, then they may seem pricey. I highly recommend Franken Auto Repair.

I couldn't believe it, an honest mechanic. #1 I own a 2001 Chrysler T&C 137,000 miles.

My first experiance with Dan was going in for my state inspection last year. I was surprised when he told me my brakes were fine. Are you "nutz"? Everybody knows somebody that, when they go in for a state inspection the mechanic will always find something wrong. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago my car wouldn't start (this had been going on for sometime) I charged the battery it would turn over and over but no ignition. I knew right away, for some reason, that OMG it's the computer.Big $$$$$ Car towed to Frankens and I had an idea what a computer replacement would cost. Long story short. New computer and a smaller unit for the transmission was installed plus there was a loud noise from the AC/heater fan which started when I was pulling out of the garage. Turned around, dissapointed, blew the horn and Dan came out listened and said "hang on BRB this will only take a few minutes. Because of one screw it took almost 2 hours to finish the few minute repair. Dan showed me the fan and said that it looked like a mouse got in there and built a nest. I admit there was a lot of fur in the blades. I asked how much I owed him and he said "That the mouse had most likely build the nest while it was parked in his yard" and said "That since it happend on his watch that there would be no charge. When has that ever happend to anybody? Well here's 5 stars for you Dan and BIG Thank you.

P.O.S ( no star)

My car was over heating so i took it to mr dan spanken! He said it needed a Waterpump, thermostat ,radiator flushed!! nd if he did the job he recomended that he changed the timing belt and i did agree!!!! So after spending 975$ car continues to over heat? So i bring the car back to him and after 16 days he gives it back and still over heats??? So i bring it back again and now says it has a blow headgasket!!!! This guy has no skills on running a buisness or knowledge of working on a car!!! The only reason he's in buisness is becouse his father who was an awsome man and was a great mechanic and left his buisness to a P.O.S, see u in small claims court Frankenstein! !!

NEVER take your vehicle for the state safety inspection. I have lived in Missouri for 8 years and have had 5 safety inspections done on my vehicles. 2 times (fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me) I have taken my vehicle to Dan Franken Auto Repair and they have failed both of my inspection because of tie rods being loose. Then they charge nearly double the price to fix them than other locale businesses. If I could rate this business 0 stars I would. May no one ever be screwed by this business again.

Besides being extremely overpriced, they never had my vehicle ready when they said they would. Then after "fixing" my vehicle, the "fix" damaged another part and they refused to replace the damaged part and fix it correctly.

Overall
Unprofessional

Took my car here for a knocking sound while I was driving. When they diagnosed it they said that a tie rod was broken and needed repair. When they told me how much it cost I told them I wanted to see what another repair shop would charge. The owner became angry and told me he wasn't a crook. I told him I had a limited budget and just wanted to see If I could get the work done at a better price. He told me I had to get the repair done at his shop because it was illegal to drive my car. I did it at his shop because of that. I found out that I could have taken it to another shop and would have saved some money. They are dishonest.
