Highlands Junior School, founded in 1958, enrolls more than 690 students in grades six through eight. Its academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as fine arts, math, science, social studies and language arts. The school also offers special education programs for students with special needs. It involves students in various clubs and organizations, such as the National Junior Honor Society, student council, band, journalism club and orchestra. The school provides opportunities to participate in several athletic activities, such as basketball, cheerleading, football, tennis, track and field and volleyball. Its library stocks a variety of reading and reference materials. Highlands Junior School is a part of the Gross Creek Independent School District and is located in Highlands, Texas.
